June 9, 201115 yr He's only hitting .260 but Ludwick has shown he can drive in runs. He has 8 bombs and 37 RBIs. Major upgrade from Gomes, so I think I'd be in favor of doing it, depending on who else they'd have to give up.
June 9, 201115 yr Adding another left handed hitter to the middle of the order? What about that aspect of adding Ludwick? Say Rolen gets hurt and we throw Francisco in there too. Then you have Votto, Bruce, Francisco and Ludwick in the middle of the order.

June 9, 201115 yr Ludwick hits right-handed. Thanks for the correction. For some reason I thought he was a lefty.
June 9, 201115 yr Heisey is 6 years younger with a ton of upside. I say you stick with him. I still don't think that Heisey is utilized in the lineup as much as he should be, but that's just me.What exactly is Heisey's "ton of upside?" He's 26 and basically what he's being utilized as, a fourth outfielder. He has a place on a major league roster, but he's a role player.

You think....He's never been given an opportunity to play everyday at this level, so that's nothing more than your opinion of his abilities. FWIW, I don't necessarily disagree, but I'm of the belief that he should be given an opportunity to see how he handles an everyday situation.
June 9, 201115 yr I'd hate to see Heisey go but I said all of last year and this year that he is probably very good trade bait.
June 9, 201115 yr  Thanks for the correction. For some reason I thought he was a lefty. I'm pretty sure he throw LH.

Heisey's Triple-A numbers: .269-13-50 in 324 at-bats, .313 OBP, .457 SLP, 21 BB, 66 SO Heisey's MLB numbers: .263-12-41 in 297 at-bats, .331 OBP, .434 SLP, 25 BB, 83 SO He's 26 years old and isn't likely to improve much. Especially with a K-BB ratio like that, the Reds seem to have done a good job of spotting him in the lineup and not exposing him too much.

My feeling exactly...If you can trade your 4th OF for a Starting OF I think you have to do it...I'm a big fan of Heisey but it doesn't matter what the fans think, he's clearly not going to play everyday anyhow...I would do Heisey for Ludwick straight up without blinking if that's all the Padres would want, I'm not sure I would do it if they require a prospect plus Heisey...
