Ask and you shall receive boys. The kicking game for Highlands has been imo as good as a 7pt advantage in most games. Highlands kickers in the last 10 yrs or so has been the 12th man on defense, record setting touchbacks, pats, etc. Not all great D1 talent but pretty darn good. Yes, there could be some concern about the next in line after the stellar career of Adam Weinel (Valpo). There is a kid that Dale and others have had their eye over the spring and he has never played HS football before. I believe he played FTJLF and he is an outstanding Soccer player for the Birds. Pretty sure the kid has been asked to kick on Friday nites and play soccer during the week, Highlands has done this before with success.

 

Pardon me if I'm beating a dead horse here, but I am very curious about the current kicking situation. Has the mysterious soccer star joined the squad? Many rumors are floating and it would be nice to lay this issue to rest.

I haven't heard a thing. Don't fret about rumors. Birds always come up with a decent kicking game and some years have a spectacular kicking game. I'm confident we'll be okay in that area.

Are there any 7 on 7's scheduled for this week now that Pat Towles is back in the fold from his visit to CA? Have they found that placekicker yet? Things seem to be rather quiet on here with the Trinity game (I mean scrimmage) coming up in less than 3 weeks.

They played Covington Holmes this morning. Towles looked sharp.

For me, it would be the size of Jason Waldenmeyer, Senior O-lineman. He had a stellar JV season, opening massive holes for the backs to run in, last year. He looks to have added both height and weight, (6'3" / 280). He could be the anchor that the O-line needs. Heard he also wowed the staff at camps this summer at Louisville and Princeton....on DEFENSE! Also, gets it done in the classroom. (which is why Ivy schools are interested.)
