Ask and you shall receive boys. The kicking game for Highlands has been imo as good as a 7pt advantage in most games. Highlands kickers in the last 10 yrs or so has been the 12th man on defense, record setting touchbacks, pats, etc. Not all great D1 talent but pretty darn good. Yes, there could be some concern about the next in line after the stellar career of Adam Weinel (Valpo). There is a kid that Dale and others have had their eye over the spring and he has never played HS football before. I believe he played FTJLF and he is an outstanding Soccer player for the Birds. Pretty sure the kid has been asked to kick on Friday nites and play soccer during the week, Highlands has done this before with success.

 

Does this soccer player have a name? I have heard some speculation about this topic but no names.

The consistent touchbacks after TDs are just as important IMHO than the extra points. Except for the CovCath game where Ritter (I think) ran back a kickoff for a TD, I can count on 1 hand how many times opponents had decent returns last year.

He does. But in fear of ruffling feathers I will not get into a specific kid. The kid will have to want to do it and only the kid. He already has approval from FB to come and go as he pleases, not sure how the other Fubol team at Highlands might feel about it. LOL.

Interesting situation because I heard a frosh wanted to do this very thing and was told that he had to be at every practice just like everyone else.

It happens all the time when there are transfers. Doesn't seem that unusual to me.

I can see being able to work it out if the kid is strictly a kicker.

I wonder how many teams would like to have this Birdsnest of an issue right now. LOL.

My guess is by season start, Dale will have a kicker in place, full time, part time, doesnt really matter and nobody will even notice the kicker this yr. Last yrs kicker was as important as the QB on offense imo, but with this yrs team I highly doubt that the kicking game will be the difference in the outcome of a game, jmo. Now if a kid can learn how to make extra points then he might have a chance of setting some kind of PAT scoring record. :thumb:

Mark my word on this one. If Highlands doesnt come up with a serious "all in" kicker then people will be screaming and crying foul on this site come October or even sooner when they see some of the scores Highlands puts up this yr. :eyeonyou:
