If you were a construction worker, or the family of one, you would have a lot more respect for that officer. Construction workers are risking their lives every day out there. They don't need some kid barreling through at 15 mph over the limit.

My sole issue was the attitude of the officer. As Walter stated, on more than one instance I've been pulled over and by being polite and courteous been let off with a warning. However, just because I have an illegal substance in my room does not give any officers the right to steal my money and ruin property inside my home (on purpose). And no, it did not go towards any fee other than their coffee and donuts every morning for the next month.

I can see them going as far as to search his house and maybe leave it messy, but to pour water on his laptop and take money from his wallet? That goes beyond their powers.

 

I have had friends go through similar situations, but I have nothing to offer except for their testimonies which would hold no credence here on BGP. I also know many great policeman, some of which are good friends of mine. Many are polite and courteous if you give them respect. Many go on power trips and belittle you when given the opportunity. In my experience, it's been about 70:30 in favor of the former. It's not realistic to expect every policeman to not let the power go to their head. Some do abuse their power in ways BM mentioned. Most do not.

I most definitely agree that some cops go on power trips and think the badge will protect them. Searching the room bm was in when placed under arrest is completely legitimate. The money issue, like I said before, could have gone to a booking fee or something. I know at the jail I take my prisoners to it is around 125 to 150 bucks. The water on the computer is pretty unacceptable. Whether on purpose or not, they should not have done that. Inexcusable. BM, did you report the actions of these officers to their superiors? If not, shame on you, because the way you are talking, they violated your civil rights and you should sue the crap out of them. Btw, I haven't eaten a freaking donut in two years...

All I know is that the money went in to their pocket. It was not on the police report, nor was it shown to be placed towards any kind of fees I had to pay. They took literally every single dollar I had in my nightstand.

 

And no I did not report their behavior to anybody besides my lawyer because that would surely have been an exercise in futility. I have called about the rude treatment my friends and I have had to endure on numerous occasions before this one, and it went no where.

I'm sure they were just harassing you for no reason at all. Because they have nothing better to do in Eastern ky.

 

He wants to go out with her, and has harassed her and me....and today it was taken care of. He'll be patrolling Post 1 if me or my family have to deal with him again.....

Aren't you in the habit of making accusations regarding law enforcement you can't possibly back up?

 

These are a fee examples of things that went wrong, yet you fail to even acknowledge the times where lives are saved because of these special units. Sometimes when a fellow officer is trapped in a bad situation or a violent person is barricaded in a house with guns, these "swat" type units are completely necessary. Nothing is perfect and mistakes are going to happen. But I can assure you even on warrant services that they announce they are the police.
