When I was in high school, a group of us were standing outside of a Buffalo Wild Wings talking as a cop drove by. One of the guys in the group said, "(expletive) pig". Cop car slammed on his breaks, got out and arrested him. He said he threatened a cop.

I can see where that might catch an officer's attention but if that's all the was said it would not be illegal. However, if I was the officer I would certainly "discuss" it with the kid and at the first sign of a problem I'd arrest him.

A lot of people wonder the younger generation has such a problem with cops, and all they have to do is look in the mirror at lot of times.

I don't think any rational person has a problem with an officer who questions someone for yelling what your friend did. It's more of an indictment on your friend than the officer. A lot of the older generation has a problem with people showing a lack of respect in general just because "they don't have to." It's not a crime that can send one to jail but it is a sad commentary on the younger generation (of which only a small % are violators).

Let's not completely absolve the human being on the other end of the equation. Some are not where they need to be in knowledge of the law and, more importantly, being able to deal with people especially younger people.

There's a very big difference between someone being rude or disrespectful and someone doing something that warrants an arrest or being detained.

Where did you come to the conclusion that cops abuse their power quite often? I would agree that it happens, but I don't think I would agree with quite often.
