Albert Pujols to 3rd base

Featured Replies

He apparently volunteered to move to 3rd where he has not played regulaly since 02 and is in the line up at 3rd tonight...It moves Berkman back to first and Punto back to second and gets Jon Jay in the lineup...Side not check out Larussas eye in the link :scared:

So to improve at RF they got worse at 3rd and 1st?

I think it was done to get better in RF defensively but also to get Jon Jay in the lineup...Also to improve second by moving Punto back to his natural position of 2B in place of Greene who had a bad defensive.series.against the Reds...Berkman isn't to bad at First...But I agree they are really only improving RF but they are also getting Jay in the lineup...

It's tough not to like Pujols. Then again, as long as the "Birds on the bat" are on his chest it isn't THAT tough.

The Cardinals defense is already one of the worst in the NL so what do they have to lose. Kudos to Pujols for making the offer to move.

I have a lost of respect for Pujols as a player and as a man.

Do tell.

I hope this doesn't do for the Cards what it did for the Reds in 75.

Well I would think that the respect for him as a player is kinda self-explanatory.

And the respect for him as a man comes from the way it seems like he carries himself most of the time, but also a lot comes from this 60 Minutes piece on him...

Did you mean "lots" because you said "lost"?

One of the reasons that Pujols was moved to first base was a balky elbow that the Cardinals felt could be a problem if he stayed in the outfield.

Frankly, if the Cardinals want to improve their defense, they can play Punto at shortstop and move Theriot to second base.
