People have a problem with others on facebook crediting President Obama with something "He got done what Bush couldn't", that's where you're getting this anger/uprising from.

 

Part of it is that, no doubt. Another part (the bigger part, I think) is just a hatred for anything that comes across as pro-Obama.

While I see where you're coming from I've seen SEVERAL/MULTIPLE people i know say Obama got done what Bush couldn't, and I think we all know that's not true. I have chose not to combat those friends but that's that.....

Look in the mirror. My disdain for Obama is well known. I don't try to hide behind a very thin veil of impartiality and then act like I've been wronged when someone calls me out. Some on here can't say the same can they?

In my post Bin Laden conversations this has been the case. None of my friends even referenced Bush and on my Facebook News Feed the anti-Obama rhetoric along with the initial post was eye opening for me. Especially when 85% of my friends are Democrats. I can say that the people(read: the few republicans/tea partiers I know)I have political disagreements with were the most respectful and were grateful to the entire government and did not slam Obama or repost the intial message of this thread. It was a small number of republicans/tea partiers that slammed Obama but no one I had ever talked politics with. It was eye opening to see kids I have coached, family members, co workers and other random people seeming to be killjoys by invoking slams at Obama. The most mature conversation I had all day was with a 17 year old that I know through a mutual friend. Some of my family members and other people(some who just commented on friends' statuses) amazed me though. Even at a time like this when we should all come together, even if it is just for a day, we still couldn't. On the Lex 18 Facebook page I couldn't tell if a majority were even happy we killed him. Seems like nobody believes it because they can't see pictures or video of the dead body and Obama has always been a liar. Just sad honestly.

I agree! This is worse than any other President had to deal with! No matter what Obama says or does, these idiots are going to find some fault, or soem how twist things around, or simply make things up! It's just the radicals, but people actually repost this garbage!

 

I see this at times in emails too, I REALLY get on the person who sends them, I call them out for not researching it on a site such as snopes, and I send it to "reply all".

Did you never hear the Bush lied people died chant? If you really don't think Bush took this kind of garbage through both his terms then you must have either been ignoring it or just became aware of politics when Obama was elected. I've got to tell you those of you that act like no other president before Obama have been treated badly really make me MORE critical of Obama.

I am specifically talking about yesterday. I am quite aware of all the criticisms all of our Presidents have gone through since I began voting in 1992 at age 18. Regardless of which President that would have been 'in the right place at the right time' and been in term during Bin Laden's death I would have nothing but high praise for my Commander In Chief regardless of how I felt about him. Now is not the time for pettiness.

There is no doubt though that Obama is already past the Bush level. It is just the way it is. Most of the hard edged attacks we all hear on a daily basis come out of those right wing media people as they search for ratings.

I think the attacks on Bush were much worse than either Clinton or Obama. As I said in another thread, I think we filter out some of the attacks on people we don't agree with and our perception is usually that the attacks on the person we support are much worse.

I concur. The media age has evolved and people may always think one President had it worse over another from hereafter.

Many people are looking at it as an Obama victory over Bush. I have seen it a few different places. I don't agree with any of that. It's an American victory in my mind.

I guess it depends on who you interact with in person, on Facebook, or in other venues. For me personally, I have a mix of people with whom I interact, but it's probably a 60%-40% in favor of conservatives. Many of them, like myself, resonate and agree with much of the Tea Party line of thinking (I say "line of thinking" because I don't always agree with how they bring their thoughts into words...i.e. their presentation). But from these folks I have (unfortunately) witnessed an attitude of "Obama should get zero credit for this." Look, I didn't vote for Obama & never will, but I give credit to him for making a gutsy call in this situation & helping in the demise of Osama bin Laden. Does Bush deserve some credit? Yes, of course. But to say Obama should get zero praise is ludicrous. Granted, the troops on the ground and intelligence people deserve the most, but Obama is the Commander-In-Chief of the military. On my report card, he gets an A+ in his handling of this situation.

 

Sadly, this has turned into a political conversation in many circles when it should be a time of celebrating that justice was finally done for the families adversely affected by OBL, for the United States, and for the whole world. The time is shortly coming in which we can disagree on issues, but at this moment, I wish we would allow unity and joy to most mark the occasion.

I took it to mean that people are spouting hateful comments toward Obama because many pro-Obama people are claiming that he was able to accomplish what GWB could not as it relates to bin Laden. They're taking offense to the notion that it was all Obama & Bush failed.
