What would you consider a successful 2011 season for the Reds?

Featured Replies

I grew up a fan of New York sports and I love my Yankees and my Mets. I start here only to say that I am a fan of the Reds from my days working at P&G and living in Cincinnati.

I was wondering what the die-hard Reds fans would consider a successful 2011. For instance, the Yankees have to win the World Series this year for me to consider 2011 a success. I would like to see the Mets make some progress toward becoming a playoff team, again.

With the Reds winning the division last year, would repeating as division champs with a similar outcome (no pennant, no championship) be considered a successful season to Reds fans? Do they have to make it to the World Series? Do they have to win it? Can this season be a success without making the post-season?

I am curious as to what folks think.

Get back to the playoffs by winning the division. Make some noise in the playoffs, team is still young so they wouldn't have to win for me to be satisfied.

Just make the playoffs.

Anything can happen once you get there.

Win a post season series.

I'm with HT. Successful season to me means that they win the division again and win a playoff series!

At this point, no worse than 162-0. Honestly I'd like to see the next step which would be a Division Series win.

Interesting question.

I'd be happy with winning the division & getting home field for the NLDS.

As someone said earlier, anything can happen once you're in the playoffs. I just don't see ANYONE beating Philadelphia.

Last season was nice but hasnt made me forget the 15 or so years before that. If they content for the division all season I'd most likely call it a success.

I love this team and the way that they play the game. I am also happy with the suits signing some of the guys that are already here to better, longer contracts. Keep your core/best. :thumb:

Now for the threads question. I want to see the Reds repeat as division champs, start a tadition of winning baseball. I would like to see them make a better showing in the playoffs, not nessesarly the N.L. pennant or W.S......yet. Basically just start and keep a tradtion of wining and perinial playoff appearances. Should they get that going the pennants and W.S.'s will come.

At this point, no worse than 162-0.

:ylsuper: I said on another thread that it is a great start, only 159 to go for the unbeaten season. :D

Let the countdown begin, 158.

Win a post season series.

I'll settle for winning a post season GAME. LOL

I wan't a Division series like others have said. In my heart though, I feel like they've got the management, GM, players, etc etc, to legitamitely make the World Series. Not sure that I'll be disappointed if they don't(it's a LONG season) however that's the only scenario that at THIS MOMENT, I would not be disappointed with. I'm sure I'll catch some flack for this but it's how I feel, I just think this team has alot of upside if they can stay healthy. But hey OUR Redleg's are off to a great start.

Why would you catch any flack? You gave your opinion and although I didn't expect a WS just yet I like the way you are thinking! :thumb:

All just have to remember......Bench,Rose,Morgan,Concepcion,Rose, Foster,Geronimo,Gullet,Sparky Anderson and the rest of the Big Red Machine are not walking through that door. :D
