March 25, 201115 yr With the NCAA investigation into Ohio State and head coach Jim Tressel still unresolved, the local media is bound to do some further digging on the topic. As we saw this past season in the high-profile cases of Auburn and North Carolina, the paper trail can reveal much more about the situation at hand, or in some cases misdirect the focus of violations in the first place. For Ohio State, this bit of information may raise more questions than it answers. The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that when Tressel received the famous emails of warning regarding his players selling memorabilia to a local tattoo parlor, he forwarded them to a man close to star quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Ted Sarniak, 67, is described as "a prominent businessman in Pryor's hometown of Jeanette, Pa." Sarniak has acted as Pryor's mentor and advisor since high school, and reportedly was the recipient of the warning emails when they were forwarded by Tressel. In the news conference to announce the violations against Tressel, the coach nodded when asked if he had forwarded the emails. He was quickly cut short by athletic director Gene Smith, and has maintained that the reason he kept the information to himself was to protect his players and the confidentiality of the federal investigation against the owner of the tattoo parlor. Tressel apologized profusely, and has since received a five game suspension as punishment for keeping the information from the university and the NCAA. But the report also raises questions about Sarnkiak, and his relationship with Pryor/Tressel/Ohio State. Of all people involved with the Ohio State football program, why would Tressel choose to inform Pryor's 67-year-old mentor on the issue rather than Pryor's family. Ohio State has not turned over any email records as of yet, but compliance director Doug Archie was quick to erase any doubts regarding Pryor's relationship with Sarniak. http://eye-on-collegefootball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/24156338/28074499
March 25, 201115 yr I think he's pretty safe, unless he does something like knock up the president's daughter.
March 25, 201115 yr This proves his garbage excuse for not mentioning the email at the time is yet another lie. He obviously knew it was wrong, and he was trying to get Pryor's handler to get him to stop before it got found out.
March 25, 201115 yr Hatz, one Buckeye poster has to wait for a SEC school gets in trouble before he responds. John Anthony will say something, and it will make sense.

As what was in GT's post, more things are coming out, and it's only going to get the media, and NCAA, to dig even deeper.
March 25, 201115 yr Man, I thought this was already out. I had heard about this about 3 weeks ago and would have put it on here. I've seen the email transcript on the internet. JT said something like "don't worry, I'll take care of it".

This is about him forwarding those emails to Pryor's handler even though he didn't pass them on to compliance at OSU...

March 26, 201115 yr The timing isn't right to fire him. He's on the back 9, as it is, he told Braxton he will likely be his last QB he coaches. I wouldn't be shocked if its only for a year after all of this. JT, nor anyone knew how much baggage TP brought, JT wasn't the right fit for it but he stood by his kid and it will ride him into the ground.
March 26, 201115 yr Tressel will coach this season and be fired at the end of it. OSU is bound to lose 2 or 3 games this year atleast due to all this garbage going on. Urban Meyer will be in Columbus by January. Watch and see if this happens. I'd be more shocked if it didn't than if it did. Only hangup would be if OSU is going to get big sanctions IMO.
March 26, 201115 yr The charges against Tressel are fireable offenses according to his contract. tOSU administration will be the ones to make that decision on when or if to fire Tressel. I honestly don't look for him to remain past this season if that. Tressel has really dissapointed me, a top level elite coach at one of the traditional elite jobs (along with Texas, Bama,USC, ND, Mich....etc,etc)in the country. Jim Tressel is a great coach but as I have always said about any program "there is no one person.... administrator, coach or player that is bigger than the OSU football program". Should Tressel be fired or resign then he has no one to blame but himself, pure and simple. I am not going to get on here and try to defend or make excuses, there are none. Tressel's quality of standing by his kids was put above (in this case) what should have been done, reporting something that serious (e-mail) to his compliance office and let them deal with it/investigate it. No jumping off here, I still do and will support OSU football. GO BUCKS!! Also, I am never going to get on here and trash a program or some other bgp member just bc I don't like their favorite team. That imo shows alot more about the poster than the one they are trying to bust. ( note: I am not talking about a little good natured talking smack and just ribbing someone, that imo is fine). Constantly getting on a thread with the sole purpose of trashing someone or their favorites is ridiculous. Maybe I have done it myself in the past but I have seen and been through too much in the last couple of years to give anyone like that a 2nd thought. Believe me, life is too short to deal with it. I am no adminnistrator or mod and in no way am trying to enforce any new policy, not telling people how to post or anything like that. I am just giving my opinion, nothing more-nothing less.
