You have heard from two that I know of now.

The charges against Tressel are fireable offenses according to his contract. tOSU administration will be the ones to make that decision on when or if to fire Tressel. I honestly don't look for him to remain past this season if that. Tressel has really dissapointed me, a top level elite coach at one of the traditional elite jobs (along with Texas, Bama,USC, ND, Mich....etc,etc)in the country. Jim Tressel is a great coach but as I have always said about any program "there is no one person.... administrator, coach or player that is bigger than the OSU football program". Should Tressel be fired or resign then he has no one to blame but himself, pure and simple.

I am not going to get on here and try to defend or make excuses, there are none. Tressel's quality of standing by his kids was put above (in this case) what should have been done, reporting something that serious (e-mail) to his compliance office and let them deal with it/investigate it. No jumping off here, I still do and will support OSU football. GO BUCKS!!

 

Also, I am never going to get on here and trash a program or some other bgp member just bc I don't like their favorite team. That imo shows alot more about the poster than the one they are trying to bust. ( note: I am not talking about a little good natured talking smack and just ribbing someone, that imo is fine).

Constantly getting on a thread with the sole purpose of trashing someone or their favorites is ridiculous. Maybe I have done it myself in the past but I have seen and been through too much in the last couple of years to give anyone like that a 2nd thought. Believe me, life is too short to deal with it.

I am no adminnistrator or mod and in no way am trying to enforce any new policy, not telling people how to post or anything like that. I am just giving my opinion, nothing more-nothing less.

 

OR, I feel your pain here. I've never been an Ohio State guy at all, but I had come to respect them alot under Tressel. It's a shame that he has let this happen, but he has only himself to blame. :thumb:

:thumb: Thanks, that is what I was trying to say. Actually,with this time knowing that it was just not as some other instances with someone trying to tear the program down I am upset but it is what it is and as you and I both said Tress did this to himself. Terrible decision making.

OR, hypotheticially speaking of course, how would you feel about Urban Meyer in the future? Never been in trouble but he's always had that slimey feel to him for many people. Heck of a coach though.

I have a strong feeling this kind of stuff goes on all the time. OSU just got caught..Who cares????

The only reason this is a big deal is because of Tressel. He kenw about it, and then lied about it and tried to cover it up. Actually, the AD helped during that interview. He interrupted JT during the interview, whey JT may have had something else to say. Fire them both.

That would be for another thread of course if that were to come about. There is no doubt Meyer is a great coach. I pay little attention to perception, if that were the case we would not like Calapari, lol.

All programs look for the edge one way or another, just depends on how far they take it and if they man up when caught. JT is treading dangerous water at this point, if anything else comes out he's done. I have heard they have an interim coach picked out already.

The thing is that this whole incident was so unnecessary. I could see if it was a recruiting violation, but the autograph stuff was just stupid especially with the things that have been going on the last 2 or 3 years about stuff like this.

As a Buckeye fan I will add my 2 cents. I think I can speak for most Buckeye fans when I say that we have had Coach Tressel on a pedestal for a long time. He is a man that always seemed to do and say the right things and we thought ran a very clean program. With all the new information that is coming out it is like we have had the rug pulled out from under us. I have always looked at coaches that are considered "shady" and not one time did I ever put Tressel in that catagory, until now. I know the buzz around Columbus is that some of the big money boosters are still supporting Tressel and some of them are ready to go a different direction. Spring Practice starts this Thursday and I would not think they could start that without some comments from Tressel, we shall see. This is a huge black eye for the program but in the long run I don't think it will have much of an effect. Will Tressel be on the sidelines in game 6? Stay tuned, cause I agree with the above post, this is not over yet.

:idunno: At this point I don't think that anyone knows what is going to happen with anything or anyone on this matter.

Well, there is probably some within the system that know but they aren't saying anything..............yet.
