March 22, 201115 yr When I first started playing on BGP I was 19. Assumed my alias by the time I was 20. In looking back, it is amazing how much I have changed in the past 8-9 years. BGP with my host of imaginary friends have been about the only constant in my life over that time span.
March 22, 201115 yr It's funny how you just assume someones age by the way they talk or the sports they follow on here. Heck even their avatar could make you think of a certain age.
March 22, 201115 yr One thing I noticed is the people I have the most debates with are under 30, same as my four boys. How about that? I also have witnessed eight football National Championships. Nine World Series Titles. Six Super Bowl wins (which is low, I've seen every game) and no basketball from my school, but enjoyed the Cats/Cards. I got to see almost everyone of Ali's fights, seen rock groups that are still famous from the 70s, and gas was 24.9 when I started driving. So, I'm glad I'm where I'm at. Medicine cabinet is getting smaller, I need a larger one. Watch your diet and excersize, soft drinks and sweet tea/cookies has taken its toll.
March 22, 201115 yr 47, working on 48. Earliest gas price memory............36 cents. 5 channels on the tube, no computers and rotary dial telephone. Funny to think about. Also, no caller ID......when you called someone, they answered the phone and had no idea who it might be.

If we're going down memory lane, I remember: 3 channels on the tube (Lexington's channels 18 and 27 and a Knoxville station) First color TV I saw was in 1968, we watched an old black and whit Zenith from 1959 until about 1970. Party phone lines where you could listen in on your neighbor's conversations. Old black rotary dial phones. The first Andy Griffith shows that aired in 1960. Opie and I are the same age. I remember the 1st episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies, Bewitched, Gilligan's Island, The Munsters, etc. 30 cent per gal gas. 25 cent cigarettes ( I smoked a little in high school to be a part of the crowd--quit my first year of college.) The first USA space travel. John Glenn, Scott Carpenter, etc. We got a "Weekly Reader" in 1st grade. The astronauts were all over the covers of the magazines. The JFK assassination. I was in 4th grade. Remember those days like it was yesterday. Very painful memories. I could go on and on. I have a lot of great memories but the last 7 years of the 1960's was a wild, crazy time. Assassinations, Vietnam, political strife, drugs. Seems like everything changed after the JFK assassination and the start of the Vietnam War.

March 22, 201115 yr I'm soon to be 60 and can remember it was a big deal that White Castles were going up from a nickle to 7 cents.
