Christian County 46 Eastern 43

Featured Replies

Christian County is the first team from the second region to advance to the finals since University Heights did in 1992. And will be favored to be the first second region team to win it since UHA did in that same year.

Just how I picked it in the prediction thread

You are good my friend!!!

Christian County beat Madisonville in the region finals. Madisonville is coached by Marty Cline, starting guard on that 1992 UHA team

This was a pretty good one I saw posted by Bowling Green football coach Kevin Wallace:

"In the 4th qt of FB and BB playoff games, Christian Co has trailed against BG, WC, Lex Cath, and Eastern. Won every game. Hickey wins...."

WOW! Congratulations to Christian County on the Big Win! They won when it counted!

When was the last time a team played in the Football and Basketball finals in the same academic year?

I sure thought the finals would be Eastern vs Bullitt East. Rowan County has surprised me more than anyone in the tournament. With Christian County you knew they were good and had a shot at the championship game, but not Rowan. Of course, the bottom bracket was a lot easier than the top, but still....

Central did it in the school 2008-2009 school year. Won the state championship in football and was runner up in basketball.

The only bad thing about the Sweet 16, the format. Seeding would make for a better championship game imo, but how would you do it?

You have to be kidding!!! It doesn't get any better than this!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, just occurred to me, wasn't that last time a 2nd Region team made the finals (UHA in '92) the famous game played at the same time as Kentucky/Duke, ensuring that almost no one was paying attention in Freedom Hall?

Eastern by far the best team? They squeaked by in the first round by three and then lost by 3 in the semi's. They are anything but "by far the best team".

I remember everyone in the suites watching the UK/Duke game and the crowd for the finals was very small.

Anthony Hickey has been amazing the last 2 games

Last 3.....a few more made layups by teammates and he has a triple double against Shelby Valley.
