With the exception of the market they play in, I think the Hawks are becoming the new New York Knicks. It all started with Joe Johnson's contract (i.e. Allan Houston). Next they will overvalue Josh Smith (Spreewell), they'll find a has been when they let go of Crawford this summer (Larry Johnson), and hype up their big man in Horford too much (old Ewing).

 

I see the Hawks getting worse every year but being able to do nothing about it due to bad contracts. I'll call it, 3 years from now they're the laughing stock of the NBA......Tonight's game was pathetic.

I like Chicago more and more each day. Especially if they get the 1 seed. I think DRose is that good. That being said I have no idea who will win the East.

 

I expect LA to win the west and the title for a threepeat this year. Next year, the battle of supremacy in the East will likely go to another level. Between Miami, Chicago, Knicks and Magic there should be a great battle for the title. We'll see exactly what LeBron is made of next year. Unless he finally develops a killer instinct this year.

I could be wrong but I think only Boston and LA have anywhere near enough firepower to take down what Miami has instore for the playoffs. Has LeBron played hard all year? They could be a disaster though.

That is what will make the playoffs so great. The unknown about the Heat. If they come out the gates blasting folks then everyone will take notice and be a little shook. What Heat team will we see? Especially after they lose. I can't wait to find out.

I am sticking with my preseason pick of Miami over the Lakers in the Finals but hope I am wrong. If Wade is in the Finals, I cannot see him being denied. Assuming Boston gets healthy, they could care less about the Heat circus and not the least bit intimidated by what that present. The Heat are still an off-season away from firing on all cylinders.

Ron Artest looking like a completely different player this past month. Lakers need him to play at a higher level if they want to make it through the playoffs and beat whoever comes out of the East. As far as teams in the West, the Spurs worry me less than the Thunder do as far as taking down the Lakers. I just don't think the Spurs are fit to beat the Lakers in a series, as Cats said before.

 

As far as the East goes, I think the Heat, Celtics, and Bulls are the only contenders. Forget the Knicks, forget the Magic. I still like Boston to come out, though. Any of these three teams would set up an epic finals series. Could you imagine if Lebron would have teamed up with D Rose this season?

I just dont see what is going to make the Heat so much more special than they have been in the regular season. I just dont see them winning a series against Boston or Chicago.

I don't think he has played hard in about 90% of the games he's played this year. He just kind of stands and walks around alot. He didn't do that before.

I agree with both of your posts except Boston without Perkins doesn't scare me at all anymore. I wasn't much on Perkins before but they seem a lot softer without him and Shaq and Jermaine O'Neal and Kristic won't scare the Lakers.

 

As was mentioned before I love the way Artest is playing right now. And the celebrations. I love them too.

For all the talk about Durant last season and this off-season he has not impressed me that much this year. I don't know that he's that much better than his teammate Westbrook to be honest.

 

Seems like the real next big thing is DRose. I'll stick to my prediciton that Durant is more TMac than he is Kobe or LeBron. Great scorer, not much else for his size and ability IMO.
