If you have not seen this Ballard team, they are for real. As I posted in another thread, when one goes out, another one comes in that is just as good as the one going to the bench.

Suddenly CovCath's 40 point loss to Ballard doesn't hurt quite so much. (Yeah, yeah I know reasonable fans can't make indirect comparisons like that, but hey no one ever called me a reasonable fan)

 

Holmes will put this behind them. THey are well coached.

Calling on the historians out there. With the long term success Covington Holmes has had, I wouldn't be surprised if this is their largest losing margin in a varsity hoops game. Does anyone know if it is??

Doesnt Ballard start a Freshman and 2 sophomores as well as have a 6th man who is a soph? Youth had nothing to do with this one. Even if the 2 Srs play this is a 20 pt loss easily. I am just not that impressed with the Dogs this year. This could either fire em up and help them or be demoralizing and make them a one and done in the Regional.

You can't be serious that having those two wouldn't have made a HUGE impact considering what they did in the first game.

 

Danny Yackey was held to just 7 pts in the first game and last night goes off for 32 with 9 treys. Hayes and Gray perimeter defense is extremely underrated and a huge reason why Holmes half court defense is so tough.

This is nothing new for Ballard though. Those kids can flat out stroke it from outside in transition.

 

Ballard has had Holmes' number over the past 2 years, going 3-0.

Yup at Ballard after what happened last Sat. Plus when they played in Dec Holmes was playing very well. JMO I have only seen Holmes twice and they shot better than expected but arent the pressure D team I expected.

Losing like this really upsets a team. I can almOst guarantee you see a fired up bunch tomorrow night at SK. The players were extremely upset with themselves afterwards from what I heard.

 

Playing at Ballard without your two senior leaders is a tough thing to do for a young team.

Tough night for the Dogs without Hayes and Gray. Heard Knox and Rice had to do it all tonight as Holmes youth really caught up with them against the #2 team in the state.

 

Live and learn. Lopsided loss but it's a great learning experience for the young guys

Rather than play basketball, they elected to participate in a senior dinner/dance on the night (Ballard's Senior Night) that Holmes was originally scheduled to play at Ballard. Fairly late in the day, Holmes notified Ballard that they wanted to reschedule. They also had three reserves that were sick.

 

Holmes coach suspended the two seniors for a couple of games - the rescheduled Ballard game being one of them.

You're assuming they're robots and would play exactly the same in both games.
