^ LCA got a big signature win over Scott County tonight; but I don't doubt that BB and Newcath will represent Regions 10 and 9 very well in the All-A.

I first want to say I have no dog in this fight and just wanted to see a good game. NCC was handling BBHS as expected by 14 or so when a NCC parent made a comment to a ref just like any other comment I've heard in the other hundreds of games I've been to. Instead of ignoring the fan, the ref turns around and instigates an argument with him telling him he doesn't have to take it and throws the parent out of the game. It was unbelievable. If that's not bad enough, he continues to put the screws to NCC the rest of the night. Very, very unprofessional. I don't know how that ref sleeps at night. Not taking anything away from Brossart, they hit some key shots but it should have never come to that.

^ That's like saying no offense but... Your not taking anything away but BBHS but after that happened everything changed and NCC didn't get any calls the rest of the way? Good win for the Stangs! I was not at the game you might be right about what went on with the official and the parent but I don't think that would alter his judgment enough to swing the game 21 points the other way.

We must have been at different games, or maybe viewing through different eyes (glasses)??

All theories about who should do what next week in Richmond based on any regular season games are sheer speculation.

Basketball is about matchups and not comparative scores.

For three quarters tongiht the Brossart offense was absolutely impotent against NCC. They led 14-9, 24-14, and 33-22 at the quarter stops, and even scored the first bucket of the fourth period to take a 35-22 advantage. However, they did not handle the Brossart press effectively, got in a big hurry, made erant passes, and allowed Brossart to gain momentum, catch up, and go win the game. From the point of the 35-22 NCC lead, Brossart outscored the visitors 27-7, so NCC has no one to blame but themselves for the loss.

As far as meeting in the Feb. 6th championship game, that would be awesome, but both will have to pass some critical tests before even thinking about that scenerio.

Right now we will be thrilled to get by West Carter.

This Brossart team is capable of beating anyone on a given day, and seem to be able to zero in on an opponent.

We are also capable of losing to anyone on a given day, so we will very defintiely take them one at a time.

Starting tomorrow our focus will be on the Harrison County Thorobreds, guarding against a letdown after beating the NCC Thoroughbreds.

NCC squandering a lead like that is embarrasing. Congrats to the Stangs on the signature win. Where was Geisler on the press break? Was it a zone press or man? Just curius.

I would be curious to know how many turnovers Giesler was responsible for. In our game, he had seven, but it didn't matter too much in our game since NCC shot lights out and we shot poorly due to NCC's defense. I guess I am hearing that Brossart shot the ball well during the 4th Qtr and OT.

NCC didn't get the ball to Giesler on the press very much, had the press broken many times up the sideline but somehow stepped out of bounds. Thats' what got one of the parents thrown out. What ever happened to the old fasson force out?

Who won jv?

NCC's JV's won 36-28. Freshman Schulte looked very good leading them in scoring with 16.

Brossart Freshmen won 45-27, in a game that probably wasn't that close. Congrats to Coach Mike Schack for notching his 100th career victory with the BB frosh.

:deadhorse: Hate to watch their games but always love their results. It ain't pretty but they get W's

I heard the same thing. I was told NCC's coach was ejected and a fan was asked to leave the gym. Hopefully someone who was there can fill us in.

NCC's coach was not ejected but did get into a shouting match with a Brossart parent after the game. It is my understanding that the Brossart parent was jawing at the NCC boys as they left the court and the NCC coach took exception to someone saying things to his kids. I don't know if the Brossart parent said anything or not (although I wouldn't be surprised knowing who that parent was) it is NEVER acceptable to say anything other than "good game" to a bunch of KIDS who just played their hearts out. And yes, an NCC parent was escorted from the gym during the game. I was not on that side of the gym so not sure what happened there.

NewCath is a great community. However, the way that parents have responded to tough losses in football and basketball are embarrassing. I wasn't at the game, so I won't comment on anything other than to be escorted from a game due to a referee's poor performance makes NewCath look bad. If what LAWildcat said is true, than the Brossart parent needs to reassess some things in his/her life as well. I mean, how bad is your life presently to have to talk trash to a 17 or 18 year-old coming off of the court?

I was not at the game so I don't know the what went on with the NCC Parent. If he was yelling profanities or was abusive to a player he should be tossed. However in the past year I have personally seen 3 games where refererees get into arguments with fans. In 2 of three situations I know profanity or player abuse was not involved. It bothers me the officials even recognize the fans comments in such cases. Coach's, Players, managers or anyone "officially" associated with the school is subject to the Ref's control. However a fan yelling "that's Terrible, your awful" should not even phase a referree. In my opinion recognizing the "fan" empowers them and in many cases gives them exactly what they want, ATTENTION!

I recognize being an official is a very tough job and I am thankful that the vast majority do a great job and are there for the right reasons. However, I think there are a few who have rabbit ears, and it ends up distracting them from doing the job they are there for. If the fan is really disruptive, go to the gym officials and have them take care of the situation, don't get into a argument during the middle of the game.

Again I was not at the game, have no idea who the official or the parent was, but I do think there are better ways to handle the situation then to get into a shouting match with a fan.
