I'm going to disagree with your attempt to paint Mike Brown as a logical thinker. He's shown repeatedly over the years that he is stubborn and stupid enough to do just such a thing as let him retire, if for no other reason than the fact that it satisfies his warped sense of principle.

 

I think he's a very logical and analytical thinker. He's shown repeatedly over the years that he is willing to stand his position when he has the leverage. He is no way stupid. He appears to be very adept at taking the long term view. His priorities are way off, at least to football fans as he seems obviously to look at the dollar rather than the performance. But even then he has stepped up at times in the past and spent the money, just not wisely.

Are there many of them? I get the sense that most fans are with Palmer. If he can afford to retire I think it's great. If he can force a trade from Brown so be it. He's been a stand up guy here and most people understand his frustration.

No a millionaire isn't going thru the trouble of moving his wife and 3 kids for one year. He is sending a message to Mr. Brown. His house is in the same subdivision as Marvin and other Bengal players.

 

He also has a house in CA that is his offseason home. Additionally, he has just bought a lot to start building a new house in Cali. His house in Cincinnati was an in-season domicile.

I agree with you. The key here is if Carson is willing to retire or at least sit out long enough to make it look like he will retire Palmer has the leverage. If he sits Brown would be better off trading him than losing him for nothing.

I'd like to see the Bengals trade for Kolb. He's still young and is way less of a risk than snagging up Cam Newton or even AJ Green. I don't think we'll see success anytime soon with Newton.
