January 20, 201115 yr The Cincinnati Firefighter is John Winfrey. He does just about EVERY Cincinnati sporting event. Honestly, I wish that they would switch it up every once in a while. LABS, I loved the Chicago National Anthem. It gave me chills listening to it & you could feel the electricity from the crowd. Just awesome. I had Bengels season tickets for 8 years. It seemed like he only did 1 maybe 2 games each year. Maybe they have used him more lately. It would be ok with me if he did every sporting event that i go to. He sings the song the way it should be- without trying to put his own spin on it.
January 20, 201115 yr Great rendition. I've heard the firefighter in Cincy. Also a great rendition. Didn't know that about Whitney's rendition, but it was very powerful anyway. Truthfully I can think of more bad than good though. Unfortunate.

January 20, 201115 yr I love this country and our national anthem and it's why I say now that this country gets its own anthem all wrong. It should not be performed by solo artist if possible. It should be jointly sung by everyone in attendance. It is 1,000 times better than doing it any other way. Gives me chills every time... The Scots put on a show unto itself prior to a big match against Italy... So I understand that was before an international match but nonetheless when it's done all the time and everyone participates... there's just something special. Take the Canadians, who like a little help at the start, but then get going before an NHL playoff game.

I'd guess that he's done the last 10 sporting events that I've been to, with the exception of Reds Opening Day (either last season or 2 seasons ago). Nick Lachey did that one.

February 1, 201115 yr Any high school student that has the nerve to get up and do it prior to a high school event. I just love when they do that! Good or bad, it is always good to see that going on.
February 1, 201115 yr Hands down, Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock. No singing or no words, but he speaks with his guitar and thats all he had to do..... Speaks for itself. If you can watch that and not be moved then I don't know what to say... Have read where he meant for all the distortion and chaos in the middle was meant to signify or sound like bombs crashing and things of that nature. The playing of the National Anthem for him at Woodstock was meant to be a political statement. Right when a whole generation was turning against America, he felt the need for everybody to recognize how much pride they should have in being Americans.
