The question would be all about timing. I'm assuming she was over 18 when the pics were taken.

 

Were they taken before or after she was offered her scholarship or invite to join the team?

 

If after, I'd say she's off the team. I feel pretty certain that the cheerleading squad has some form of code of conduct that she was given. I'd say posing in Playboy would violate the code.

 

If before, that could be a tough one. I find it somewhat difficult to believe that the school would not have known about this if it happened prior to recruiting her, unless she covered it up real well. If it's a matter of the school failing to do their due dilligence I don't see how they could reasonably kick her off, they may dole out some sort of team suspension. However, if she were required to disclose the act and didn't, she's gone.

But there were pictures of her that were released that had her in her uniform (and out of it ) and if I'm not mistaken that was the grounds for Louisville kicking her off the cheer team. I again could be wrong but I don't think she as expelled, rather she left because she didn't like the attention that she got because of the pictures.

Miss St has a freshman cheerleader who posed for Playboy prior to joining the squad. It has now come to light.

I don't think she was expelled, she left due to embarrassment and all the "attention" it caused.

UKs Athletic Department does not fund their Cheerleading squad as they get their money from elsewhere (I'm assuming past alumni, boosters, etc.) so I would be inclined to think that they aren't sanctioned by the NCAA so it wouldn't matter then that she got paid. Heck, I bet many of these cheerleaders are in some modeling agency of some sort and are already getting paid so its really a moot point. So basically it was Mississippi State that decided to let her go from the cheerleading squad.

A pose with her and the two basketball players who got in that fight on national TV would be a good PR move. Cheerleader with a pair of boxing gloves on.

 

Here's an alternative question... Did she get paid? Is it ok for a cheerleader to get paid to pose nude or does she lose her NCAA eligibility like the male athletes would if they made any money off anyone...

 

Cheerleading is not an NCAA sponsored sport, so it doesn't matter if she got paid or not.

But cheerleading is a sport...
