Is it the LIT ratings that don't factor out of state games? Would be huge benefit to Central who hasn't lost any of their 4 to in-state teams.

As always, the Litkenhous ratings are a joke.

 

They have Newcath in there above an undefeated Dixie team that beat Newcath by 13.

 

They also have Henry Clay rated above Covcath, despite the fact that Covcath beat HC by 10 on a neutral floor.

 

Lastly, they have Bowling Green at 16 and Trinity at 9....Bowling Green beat Trinity on a neutral floor.

Talk about a tough schedule, CovCath has 4 games in their schedule against the top 7 and 5 of the top 11 teams in this poll. Wow.

Know what you mean by tough schedule. GRC started the season with a scrimmage against #1 ranked J-town. We have already played the # 11,12,13 ranked teams. Coming up on our schedule are # 5,6,7,15 ranked teams. We also have faced some nationally ranked teams. Knew when the season started that we had a brutal schedule.

Agree 100% :thumb: Our record may not be as good as some others who has not played such a challenging schedule.

Does anyone know the format for determining this ranking? I know some districts that go to this thing for a tie and whoever is higher gets the higher seed. I know some teams that are ahead of others that are a joke. One in particular that plays a cupcake schedule and gets wins and beats some of these small schools by 40, aggravates the crap out of me to see them ahead of a 3 loss team that has lost to 3 top 20 teams??

If it is anything like the computer rankings that we all here about in sports media, you probably need a degree from MIT to figure it out.

None of the computer models are typically of much help this early in the season...IMO, they shouldn't bother releasing them until February, but the papers see them as ways to get folks like us yapping about them early on. They're a curiosity; a conversation-starter and nothing more right now.

 

That said, they are a pretty reasonable barometer by the end of the season...

Dr. Lit gets pretty accurate later in the season, IMO, as more data (game results) are compiled. Obviously, there are glitches this early in the season. This occurs every year. It is nothing new. It happens with all computer rankings, I daresay.
