For the record I don't know Zeke. Never had a conversation with him. Don't know his dad. Not a Dixie guy.

 

With that said this stuff is tiresome and petty. Let's try not to attack kids on this board. Let's let their parents, coaches, and recruiters deal with any questions they might have.

You weren't asking a question. You were making a statement about Zeke Pike. Quite transparent as evidenced by the "rhetorical question" post.

We've moved a long piece away from congratulating these two young men on this honor. Good luck to both!

Towles will have plenty of D1 offers before the end of his senior year..He already is getting a ton of interest.

I'm not quite sure that I would believe that. There are a lot of kids out there including Towles that are having very good conversations with many schools that aren't running to Scout or Rivals and telling them about it. Realistically you could call Scout right now and tell them that Mars offered your kid and somebody from there would put it in your kid's profile. I do know that Towles and Drake Bruns are going to Texas next week to participate in the Army All American Bowl Combine.

 

This has become all about marketing. The days of, "if he's good enough they'll find him," are over. Because of that some assume there isn't much going on with a player because the player has chosen to keep his recruiting activities more private.

 

For a 2012 kid the bottom line is not where you might be going on Dec. 2010 but rather where you are on Sept. 2012.

 

And for all of those who say KY high school football is weak this thread proves how strong it is. You have one of the top 150 juniors in the country that didn't even get honorable mention status on the KY AP All-State team. This state must be loaded with talent.:thumb:

Don't insult everyone's intelligence, you made a statement and it was pointed toward one person and one person only and you got called out on it. Take your medicine and move on.

I don't doubt that a bit. He certainly looks the part.

 

As I've said numerous times NKY will have 3 candidates for Mr Football next year.

They both have bright futures in my opinion. Of course I was a lineman in my day and know little about what makes a good QB vs a Great QB. They both have the size, skills, and arm strength to play on many D1 schools. Someday, I would like to see them playing on a Saturday afternoon in the fall and say that I remember them when they were playing on the fields in northern KY demolishing the opposing defenses with ease.

I know the young man and his father, and I have conversed with him. I'd take Towles in a heart beat based on his potential talent and "character." Pike may be talented, but......... Unfortunately for him, his coaches, AD and principal have refused to deal with certain "issues" that would be problems for any other athlete at Dixie or any other school. I just hope that those problems and the lack of institutional control by the powers that be at Dixie don't come back and haunt the young man in the future!

While both of those things are important, they tend to get coaches fired at the college level. College coaches always take TALENT and "potential character" over potential talent and character.

Pike has done a good job being in the right places in front of the right people. There is some truth that marketing now plays a role in an athletes ability to play at that next level. Not sure if Towles has been on the same circuit as Pike. Very similar measureables as far as height, weight and athletic ability. Towles does not have the textbook release that Pike has at this time.
