UC # 345 out of 345 D1 Basketball Teams in Strength of Schedule

Featured Replies

That would seem to put more pressure on Mick to have a good season to get the tickets sold.

Basketball is actually not losing money at this point even with the low numbers because of the UCATS donation required to have the premium seats. The lower bowl is sold out for the most part even if they don't show up on a regular basis. Basketball is breaking even under Mick, but yes it is now time to win and fill the place back up. With the roster finally rebuilt they are in position to do just that...

Well at least the team is winning these games. There is no reason to think atrtendance would be very good for these tilts. If they could knock down a couple of BEast wins early, the crowds could come back. I'm not a big Cronin fan, but I am a UC fan, and would love to go over there to see some good ball being played. it is a fun place when it's going right for them.

ESPN set up UC to play Duke in New Jersey earlier in the year, but after the classic championship game put in Butler instead and created the Oklahoma game to fill the void for UC...

While it may not be losing any money my guess is it's not making as much as it used to which is critical.

Nothing wrong with OU. That will be a good matchup.

A little down so far this year but they have talent. Not going to be an easy game at all...

I think any evaluation wouldn't start until they lace them up against Oklahoma.

I believe that's true too. Oklahoma is not as good as it's been before, but they are definitely good enough to use as a measuring stick to consider how conference play could potentially go for them.

Here is the reality of playing in the Big East. I took a look at the current Coaches poll to get an idea how many current top 25 RPI games (the big scalps) that each non BE team has left:

Duke-3

Ohio St-2

Kansas-2

San Diego St-4

Missouri-4

Purdue-3

UK-4

Texas-3

BYU-4

Texas A&M-2

Kansas St-2

UCF-0

Michigan St-3

Illinois-4

Minnesota-4

Memphis-2

Vanderbilt-4

UC has 10 games left against the current RPI top 25. That's a pretty substantial difference any way you slice it...

Bearcats checked in today at #25 in ESPN/USA Today Poll and #24 in AP Poll.

I still don't think they are a top 25 team until they prove they can beat a top team but given the fact that everyone keeps losing and they keep winning, I can understand them moving up.

Glad to see them get the ranking that they did.

Why? Unlike several other top 25 teams, UC has taken care of business and in impressive fashion against the teams they SHOULD beat.

I think at this point, #24/#25 suits them just fine.

What about Jerry Palm saying that UC will need to likely win 12 games in the Big East to get into the tourney as an at large team, because of how bad their non-conference schedule is?

What about Jerry Palm also praising Arkansas as a team he feels will get in? He's maybe worse than Lunardi on the fraud scale...
