They are ranked 47th which is very impressive with that schedule!

They are also ranked # 1 in the country in scoring defense at a little over 51 points a game before last nights battle with Utah Valley. I would say they have done what they have had to do with the schedule presented to them.

Dreadful schedule thus far. All teams have cupcakes but I'm not sure if UC knows what they can do well in the conference and what they can't do well. They might be solid this year but we simply have no way of knowing based on the first eight games. I'll leave it to GT and other UC fans to say if this type of scheduling is wise. I can't see how they're getting ready for conference play.

I'd say that this schedule is also responsible for 5k per game in attendance but I think UC fans are in a serious wait-and-see mode.

Wonder if this soft "Fool's Gold" schedule will aid in saving Cronin's job? If I was a season ticket holder, I would be embarrassed with this schedule.

I think any evaluation wouldn't start until they lace them up against Oklahoma.

When I hear Cronin supporters, they tell me that his win total has increased each year he has been at UC. Can't argue with the numbers. However, when he starts 8-0 with a fraud of a schedule, I am not putting much validity in that number any longer. There has to be another barometer to measure his success at UC. He needs to finish in the top half of the Big East and earn a trip to the big dance, that would my barometer. The attendance has all but disappeared and this program is on a very shaky foundation. Mick needs to quit hiding behind these weak schedules to pad wins. The transparency is crystal clear.

Fair or unfair my perception of Mick is that he's wholly unlikeable. If you don't win AND your'e unlikeable you're in a tough spot. I know there is concern about his ability to deal/communicate with boosters. He needs to win.

How has attendance been at home games for UC this season?

Everyone schedules a couple of creampuffs early on, but this is too much. I've been a long time UC fan and I really couldn't care less what they've done in these first 8 games. They are in for a rude awakening when they hit their BE schedule.

UK with the 8th toughest schedule so far. That's nice to see.

Schedule was set up easy early to get some time to work through replacing Vaughn and Stephenson. The one early test was Dayton on a neutral court, and Dayton isn't playing well. Not much you can do there. Oklahoma in OKC next weekend was the next big test, and they had to basically start over after the contract was signed. Miami in Oxford will be tough. Ask X. Last OOC game is X at the Shoe.

Funny thing is that even though they are ranked last in SOS now, they are projected to finish with the 59th toughest schedule by seasons end. That's life in the Big East. Not a single thing Mick can do if all of the tough OOC tests on the schedule have a down turn at the same time...

Is Canisus back on the schedule or are they going to Morgantown.

Which tough OOC test had a down turn?

Mt. St. Mary's? IPFW? Florida A&M? Savannah State? Wright State? Toledo? Utah Valley?

Dayton is the only school on their schedule so far that has "had a downturn", and they were still an NIT team last year. Oklahoma & Xavier could qualify as well.

Their remaining OOC games include: Georgia Southern, Oklahoma, Miami (OH), St. Francis (PA) and Xavier.

Dayton is down. Oklahoma is down. X is far from the level they have been recently. Miami in Oxford is always tough.

Did you miss where I said they set it up easy in the early portion because they were losing the 2 leading scorers?

If you aren't the top 4 or 5 programs in the Big East, it is not smart at all to front load the schedule when you have 18 BEast games looming at the end. You have to find a balance of playing teams you will beat and mixing it in with a few tests. Right now it doesn't look like the tests they put on the schedule will do much to help the OOC SOS. Simple as that...

I agree. Why get tested when you have a lot of tests left? Most SEC football teams do the same thing and they play anough good teams.
