Bobby Leonard from Dixie should be on that list.

 

Played in a pass happy offense, seemed to catch a lot of simple routes. Good player but not at a lot of other guys levels.

Bovard, PVS, and AC are the top three in my opinion. Stats of wide out's in High School are very misleading in my IMO, and that is why some people on here are mentioned just pure stats.

I think wide out stats on any level can be misleading because of the fact that more factors and other players are involved: weather influencing the pass game, the play and status of the other wide outs, the coaching style, the offensive line, the opponents' defense (ALL THREE LAYERS), and especially QB. I think Bovard fell victim to a deep talented offense and a lack of being hit in the redzone. I know a lot of WRs that could have been on the list but I think these stats show CONSISTENT production from the WIDEOUT position (Austin Collinsworth didn't qualify stat wise because he devoted a lot of yards to rushing as well).

Not sure many Bird fans would vote Bovard after he single handedly knocked them out in 2006. AC ended up beinfg the best simply because he is at ND playing that position. This poll seems to be based on stats so if i have to choose based on those alone id probably go with B Griffin. It seems I remember him having some sick games when he played. Sutton was a stud and Buten could definitely stretch defenses.

What's funny is Boone has a candidate. Conner throws nearly every down and has no one to qualify by these stats. Seems odd.

You're right, it couldn't have been a better ending. Most people weren't around to see the the warm-ups before the game. The oppositions cheering section was really laying into Kurt hard before the game started. It was to the point that they were in his head, and he was dropping passes that he could have caught blind folded. I give Kurt all the credit in the world for overcoming that. He had another big time play minutes before his winning TD that really kept the Colonels alive as well.

Qualifications: At least one season of 8 games played, an average of 50 yards receiving per game, and 9 touchdown receptions. That narrowed the list down to 8 candidates, the most consistent producers of both yardage and points on the receiving end of passes.

 

2008 William "Scooter" Engleman caught 66 passes for 840 yards and 9 TD's.

As far as who is listed is concerned, I am between Sutton and Buten. However, I believe that Winkler of SK is right there with them.

Scooter Englemon from Conner should be on the list.

 

Not even close. I really like Scooter and know him personally, but he isn't close to the top 10 of the best receivers over the past 5 years.

 

Great numbers, but in a system that he fit in to very well. It also didn't hurt that he had Nick West throwing to him.

Peter Sutton was the most atheltically and physically gifted receiver of the bench.

 

Bovard and Jacobs were also very good as well for CCH.

 

I'd go with Sutton. Not only was he a standout on the gridiron, but he may have been even better on the hardwood. Scary to think what the Colonels could've been with him playing both sports.

Brandon Griffin is one of the best high school receivers I've seen play. Had he been a little taller to go along with his 40 inch vertical jump and hit the books a little harder. Well who knows.
