Featured Replies

I know its early who will it be and why?

I think they will go after Knox Central's Mills. He has alot of Bell Co. ties.

Mills , Greer and maybe Frazier... What is Chuck Smith and Mike Yeagle up to these days?

IMO the job is Mills' for the taking if he wants it. He is a Dudley disciple and has managed to make a program at KC. I do not see how Knox Co. can match what could be offered to get him into Bell if it happens. Being at home in Barbourville could be the only real bump in the road if it is offered.

Makes good sense. My probability meter says 98 percent chance Coach Mills will be the next Bell coach.

Chuck Smith? You must not pay much attention to football. The guy is the recruiting coordinator for UK!

I just can't see Wayne Mills taking the position. He is a lifelong Knox County resident, played for Knox Central, attended Union College, his wife works in the Knox system and his kids attend Knox schools. His ambition was to become the head coach at KC and he has turned a nothing program into one that has played in the regional championship two of the past three years. He has told many parents that he is where he wants to be.

With all due respect to Bell, Harlan, Corbin etc., I fully expect Coach Mills to guide Knox Central into the position to be the dominant program in this area.

I think if I were a Bell administrator, I would have to take a good look at what a certain young coach is doing at the bottom of Log Mountain.

I know a great one, but nobody has or probably will say his name. Funny thing about that? He is former Bell County player, might have even coached there as an assistant a year or two and has completely turned around a program in the state from a bottom dwelller to one that most people definately do not want to play.

I'm going to wait and see if anybody makes mention of his name, and if you do, I'll PM you; or PM me if you are curious of who I'm thinking. I just dont want to speculate publicly.

Not sure who you are talking about. Jeff Robbins is the only current Head Coach I can think of that graduated from Bell Co.

That is the only one I can think of don't see that happening either.

Jeff Robbins is good football coach. Very good.

Where is Jeff Robbins currently coaching?

Color me ignorant. Did Coach Hilton resign?

This will be interesting. Besides Mills, what names might be on the radar?

Just brainstorming, but would anyone on this list be a possibility? All of them have been successful and may show interest for various reasons. Do any of them have ties to Bell County? I have no idea who is on the Bell County wish list, but I left off guys like Mueller, French, etc. and tried to list a few names who I thought might be reasonable possibilities.

Jay Cobb

Paul Rains

Mark Dixon - Hazard

Robbie Lucas - Somerset

ShaDon Brown - Rowan Co

Shawn Hager - Sheldon Clark

Mark Peach - Anderson Co

John Hines - Pulaski Co

Jim McKee - Scott Co

Jim Matney - Johnson Central
