Two different games. IMO, Boyle County was the reason we didn't score 49 points on Friday, not ACS. Passes we dropped on Friday on 3rd down were completions against Christian County. Devon Cox also got 20+ carries against CC for over 200 yards. He only got 11 carries on Friday and there were multiple series where he wasn't on the field. I felt like we were hurting ourselves in the first half, not that ACS was doing anything to stop us or slow us down. I am sure I'll get hammered for saying that but I came away from that game thinking it wasn't one of our better performances this year and I can't recall anything specifically that ACS did to make it one of our worst performances of the year. We took away their ability to run and made them look good passing the ball. Once we quit making silly mistakes, holding penalties and dropping passes on 3rd and long we outscored them 21-7. Play that way for 4 quarters and we possibly win 42-14.

EVERY single game between 2 teams could have the wouldas and couldas and I'm sure ACS could throw a few out there as well and spin it another direction. I think the score indicated that the 2 teams were pretty evenly matched and the better team won, but, ACS proved they were no fluke and deserved to have been where they were, not to mention being 14-0 coming into it and beating some pretty decent teams along the way...

Covcath may have only won 6 games but look at their schedule. It was absolutely brutal. They played Ryle (6A state semi finalist), LaSalle (GCL South Champs), Newcath (2A State Champs), Highlands (5A state champs), St Xavier (Likely would've been in state championship if on opposite site of bracket of T), Johnson Central (Arguably the 2nd best team in 5A).

 

Had anyone else in the state, not named Highlands or Trinity, played that schedule, they likely would've only won 5 games in the regular season as well. Please come better than that and know the facts before you bash a team.

 

You obviously haven't seen the nky teams that Newcath played if you don't think their schedule was tough for a 2A program. They played 5 teams that advanced to the second round or further in the playoffs.

 

Dixie- Lost in second round of 5A playoffs to Highlands. Led at the half. Dixie is led by 6'5 Qb Zeke Pike whose offer list looks like a USA Today top 25.

Covcath- Lost in second round of 5A playoffs to Johnson Central. (Lost to Highlands by just 7 points)

Ryle- Lost in the 6A state semi's to Trinity 28-9...Trinity's closest game against KY team.

Campbell Co- Lost in second round of 6A playoffs to state semi finalist, Ryle. Newcath held Campbell Co

Cov Holy Cross- Lost in Region Final to Newcath. Averaged 35 ppg and had a combined 35 points in two games against the Breds.

 

You people down state are getting too hung up on NC's loss to Beechwood. There have been plenty of years where Beechwood has been the better team and Newcath beats them. It's just how this rivalry works. You wouldn't understand it unless you lived in the area. Newcath is much better than that game and they showed it with their dominating performances in the playoffs.

 

So tough schedule is all that matters, even if they lose those games?

 

Campbell County was not that good. It doesn't matter who they lost to in the playoffs, they didn't beat too many good teams throughout the year. Because of the number of teams in the playoffs in 6 classes it's a rather dubious honor to tout a team for getting run out of the season regardless of who it is by.

 

You do a great job of breaking down Cov Cath's schedule but the results are the same.

 

New Cath played defeated one team in the regular season that had a winning record. (Holy Cross) If any other team had that mark you would be castigating them and you know it.

 

I'm not saying Cov Cath is some slouch or even Dixie Heights (6-6 if anyone is wondering) but your post stated that NCC had played better teams than ACS, Central and Christian County and then cited to .500 teams (Cov Cath and Dixie Heights).

 

Just for discussion:

 

ACS probably does have a weaker schedule. I didn't see too many good teams on their schedule to be honest.

 

Christian County played Boyle and Oakland, TN (who finished ranked 9th in the state in TN after being upset by 7 in the playoffs).

 

Central played Male and St X.

 

Personally I think Christian County's top 2 and Central's top 2 easily stack up next to the 2 you mention.

 

Maybe some research needs to be done on both our parts.

Looking at their schedule I think Western was their most impressive win of the season. The regular season didn't have a lot of weight IMO.

 

I think ACS played a great game, left it all on the field and that's all you can ask. I don't know anyone that thinks they "don't belong there." I just think the way Boyle took control when it mattered most was very compelling. (First 14 minutes of 2nd half and the last 5 minutes of the game when they had to eat the clock) :thumb:
