I think the Breds will bring home the hardware this year.

 

Their ball control offense will be the difference. They will utilize Hightchew, Kelly, Cain, and Hayes out of the backfield to keep the O-Cath defense from keying on one player. Newcath will lull them to sleep with the run then play action over the top for a long gain or td. It's happened in every game I've seen the Breds this year and I've seen them probably more than any other team.

 

I don't think the O-Cath defense is good enough to stop the Breds enough to outscore them. Let's not forget that Newcath hung 42 on a good Corbin team, and from what I heard, that could've been much worse.

 

Would be really nice to see Coach Eviston get a state title in his first year, especially with his dad passing away earlier in the year.

I know that there aren't many OCath people here, but how many of their linemen go both ways?

One sometimes two that's about it, Aces are avg. size, except for a couple of very big tackles. They are rather quick on their feet and have a lot of desire, their biggest asset is the amount of skill players they have and their ability to make something happen.

O-Cath has only punted a handful of times this year. If New-Cath doesn't score on every possession they could have a hard time winning the game. O-Cath defense is suspect at times but they do make adjustments and normally prevail, just as they did against Murray and Danville.

It seems the Aces have a tougher time containing speed to the outside than they do with power runners such as N-Cath #3....

I'll go with NCC by no more than two TDs.

Look for NCC to pick off a couple of passes and that will be a key factor in this game. NCC's DB's are good ball hawks.

The good thing about NewCath's offense and all of the ball faking is that it makes defenders play more hesitantly than they like. As a result, the backs get an extra step, which makes them faster than their 40s or film would show. Also, Dylan Hayes, #44 is a very nice change of pace back and Hitchew can fly.

I'm sure NCC is a good football team, they wouldn't be here if they weren't. I just think the Aces have a better feel for the game when they are playing someone like the films have indicated NCC lines up offensively.

It is an odd mix. They have two huge guys - 6'10" 330 lbs (yes, no typos in that) and 6'7" 245 lbs. Those two will set up in tandem on either side of the ball. Then I believe they have another fairly good sized lineman at maybe 220 lbs. Then the other two guys are actually not that big, maybe 5'10" 190 lbs, but they are very good. New Cath fans please feel free to correct me or add more details.

 

6'10 330 is huge is he getting any looks from big schools im not saying that just because he is big he should but to have that kind of size has he been coached up wats his skill level?

Don't know if he has any offers yet but, as I stated in a previous thread: Last year I had Cincinnati Bengal starting OG Nate Livings (6-5 325lbs) come up to NewCath and speak to some students. After his talk we went to the weight room so he could speak to the football team. Big Jack came in and was standing next to Nate, Nate looks UP at Jack and asked how tall, how much he weighed, & what grade he was in. After Jack responded 6-10, 350, & junior class, Nate says, "if only I was that size when I was a junior". Nate also added that there is a school out there that will work with a kid with that size.

Who have they played that gave that many different looks and that much motion? Nobody up here runs an offense anywhere similar to it. It is a unique blend of the run and shoot and wing t. They also give a few spread looks.

Murray, Hancock County South Spencer, not so much your offense just the fact you lack the real speed that most good teams have. Before you jump my case I'm looking at film and sometimes it can be deceptive. As far as the run and shoot they see that every day in practice. If Catholic has a weak spot, it would definitely be on the defensive side of the ball. However, their offense is so multi-dimensional that it gives most teams a huge amount of problems. If you try to play man they will beat you, if you go to zone, they will beat you, and then when you think they are going to pass, they will let Russell Hayden carry the ball or the Dixon kid who has speed to burn. Russell had a 192 yds rushing and the total offense was 602 yds against a supposedly good defense by Danville. So, good luck, to the Breds, but of course, I have to root for my Aces!!

I've watched some film on NCC, they are big but Murray was bigger overall. AS far as speed I didn't see that much. Apparently you haven't seen Owensboro play, if you think NCC will win by 2 td's, Aces have more offensive weapons than" Carter has pills" . Owensboro did give up a lot of points to Danville however they did turn the ball over three times in their own territory and still hung 61 pts on them.

NCC might win but the Aces will score and score often , so my thinking it will be a high scoring affair but NCC won't keep up and Aces take home the hardware....

 

There will be some surprises when O-Cath shows up at WKU, make no mistake about it! I was personally shocked at how good O-Cath was in hammering FC 34-0 this season. That is after getting spanked by FC 53-0 last season - an 87 point difference. O-Cath will score at will, no doubt about it. Can they stop NCC, may be the question.

 

NCC has a little bit of recent history of rolling into the 2A title game with a lot of NKY hype, only to return home with the thanks for coming trophy.
