According to you oldnumber25 it should be a walk in the park for OC since you think they have the easy title game and who is ranking defense's if Murray was ranked#1? Who did they play to earn that?

Having played for a very, very prolific spread offense in college I understand one thing about it. There are games where the spread looks absolutely undefendable. It just clicks. There are games where your offense is just a step off, and your defense spends way too much time on the field. The teams that gave us the most trouble were those that could bring a ton of pressure up the middle and were able to cover our middle screens w/ ends and OLBs They were also able to disrupt our receivers at the line of scrimmage. I don't know what NewCath's philosophy will be, but Wagner is about as good of a D coordinator as there is. I look for NewCath to bring pressure from everywhere and take away the screens that OCath will run. W/ OCath's QB being on the shorter side, there is a good chance for NewCath to get a lot of tipped passes as well.

Don't spout off too much before fridays game. By the way were you at the game? Danville has a solid defense, a little to be desired on pass coverage, but solid overall. The way you are talking I would like to see OC lay 75 points on NCC.

Overzealous fans...NewCath also has had issues in the deep middle and tackling on the edges on bubble screens and quick passes. That is what makes me nervous. 61pts on Danville is very impressive. I'm hoping that it was an aberration, and one of those games where OC was just on its game and it kind of snowballed out of Danville's control. Those kind of games happen to good defenses from time to time.

Everyone is talking how good NCC is and how many people scored on who, but you know Danville's defense is not too bad . The #2 rated team in the state only put up 28 pts on them {Boyle County} so maybe their better than you think....

I have only seen Newport Catholic play once, but the only team that I saw that is on the same level as them would be Boyle County. I saw Corbin play both teams and the Boyle County game was much more competitive. A lot of people are discounting NCC, saying they are slow, they sure didn't look slow to me. It boils down to NCC being able to contain the Franklin-style offense, if they can they will win.

OC offense stats are unreal, this game will be a shootout. NC is no slouch either. High scoring game, I think that OC beats NC by 14.

I don't think OC will put up 75 points either, I just let that preivious poster get under my skin when he called Danville's defense awful. I think it will be a good game, but I don't think it would be to NCC's favor to play a fast pace game and get in a shoot out with OC. The OC offense is running very efficient and their execution is excellent.:thumb:

If the NCC team that played Beechwood shows up then the Aces will win by 3 TD.

I finally watched a little of the OC-Hancock game on the internet. 3 things. 1. HC ran what appeared to be a 5-2, against the spread??? I know that they'll say that it was a 3-4 but both outside backers stayed on the line almost the whole game. 2. NewCath ran a very similar offense to OC the past decade, with the exception of 2002 and 2006. 3. The QB did not seem comfortable throwing over the middle, most passes were to the sidelines or outer 1/3rds. That could be due to the fact that he threw a pick on his first pass through the middle, or that he can't see well enough over the line. I'm guessing that he has improved on this, since they're averaging 44 pts per game, and that is tough to do only using 2/3rds of the field.
