Murray, Hancock County South Spencer, not so much your offense just the fact you lack the real speed that most good teams have. Before you jump my case I'm looking at film and sometimes it can be deceptive. As far as the run and shoot they see that every day in practice. If Catholic has a weak spot, it would definitely be on the defensive side of the ball. However, their offense is so multi-dimensional that it gives most teams a huge amount of problems. If you try to play man they will beat you, if you go to zone, they will beat you, and then when you think they are going to pass, they will let Russell Hayden carry the ball or the Dixon kid who has speed to burn. Russell had a 192 yds rushing and the total offense was 602 yds against a supposedly good defense by Danville. So, good luck, to the Breds, but of course, I have to root for my Aces!!

Hightchew will be the best athlete on the field, period. Kid can flat out fly. Hayes also has a lot of speed.

 

Kelly doesn't look fast because he's more of punishing rb that runs through you, instead of around you, but once he breaks away he won't be caught.

 

I have a feeling you're in for a surprise when you see this Newcath team. I said it earlier, and I'll say it again....let's not forget this is the same Newcath team that beat a very good Corbin team AT CORBIN 42-8, in a game that could've been much worse. You can't compare scores, but Boyle Co beat Corbin 42-10. Newcath is for real.

 

No disrespect to anyone on O-Cath's schedule, but this will be the best defensive team your Aces have seen to date.

That's what they said about Murray {who was ranked No. 1 on defense}, and then it was repeated about Danville. In my opinion this will be the best offensive team you have faced on your schedule,so it should be a treat.. Goodluck!!!

There will be some surprises when O-Cath shows up at WKU, make no mistake about it! I was personally shocked at how good O-Cath was in hammering FC 34-0 this season. That is after getting spanked by FC 53-0 last season - an 87 point difference. O-Cath will score at will, no doubt about it. Can they stop NCC, may be the question.

 

NCC has a little bit of recent history of rolling into the 2A title game with a lot of NKY hype, only to return home with the thanks for coming trophy.

This is not relevant to anything. Ft. Campbell lost one of the most dynamic classes to go through KY in a long time.

 

As for the recent history, the last time NewCath was there, it took a trick play in the last minute of the game for a very, very good Ft. Campbell team to beat them. This years team is better than that team. Another thing overlooked is that this is the 2nd state championship for 7 of the seniors. They either played significantly against Ft. Campbell or were on every special team. This team has been there before. In a game like this, that makes a big difference in the crucial first quarter.

 

OCath obviously has a good offense and speed. However, you treat it like NewCath hasn't played teams faster than themselves this year. Hell, the first QB they faced this year has scholarship offers to the bulk of the SEC schools, w/ a burner that ran jet sweeps and bubble screens. CovCath, for all of its deficiencies on D, had 2 very fast players that they put out into space. They also had one of the best receivers in the state. I know that OC has a lot of weapons, and are going to be the best offense that NewCath has faced up to this point. The numbers bare that out, but they are not going to be so far above and beyond what NewCath has faced this year. Also, keep thinking that NewCath is a slow plodding team. Hitchew will surprise you.

Ryle was a 6A semi finalist and gave Trinity their best game of the year, outside of the Elder and Cincy X games.

Campbell Co advanced to the second round of the 6A state playoffs.

Covington Holy Cross averaged 35 ppg but was held to 35 combined points in two games with Newcath.

 

Outside of the 40 that Beechwood hung on Newcath in the last game of the year in a HUGE rivalry game, this defense has been pretty solid all year. They give up points, but come up with the big stops when they need them.

 

I expect a great game.

I agree!! Also, the class 5A game.

NCC wins because of the O line clearing the way....But I think its closer than most!!!!

When watching OC play you can tell they have a bunch of team speed but the issue is the offense and defense of line. The D line has some obvious weaknesses, strength and size. The O line will be on their heels because they are lacking the same thing. Mexitucky made a good point with NewCath's scores this year, OC will not put up 60 points or anything close to that, Ryle, a 6A state semi-finalist only put up 27 with NewCath turning the ball over 4 times. Danville's D was just bad! I've seen both teams play and in my humble opinion NCC rolls in this one.

Danville's rush defense was bad in the second half, I think mostly due to wearing down trying to rush and defend the passing game in the first half. If NCC can't get some good pressure on the quaterback and disrupt their offensive rythum, OC will score everytime they get the ball. I seriously doubt NCC will hold OC to 24 points.

Newcath hasn't had a problem getting pressure on any Qb this year. Their d-line is very good led by 6'7 245 Jake Geisler.
