I can't believe you guys are having this big of a meltdown. We went through alot of this the last few years and the sun did still rise in the east and set in the west

I think the upcoming polar switch is effecting some.

Thank goodness we are off of page 3 of this thread. Anyone who happens to jump in here now and is interested in comments about the game... just skip page 3. Maybe we can get back to game comments if anyone has anything else they want to cover. I never did see stats on the game. Are they posted anywhere?

Mayfield does not have a Saturday , or Sunday paper. The Paducah paper had no stats in the Saturday editon. The Mayfield Messenger will have the stats tomorrow and i'll send them to you if you want,especially since im so obnoxious!! lol, just kiddin , if you want me to send them to you i will. I heard, that the stats were pretty even, if what i heard is true Mhs held Vocke to 47 yards, but then again that could have been just a fan running his mouth.

If you can, Mr. Obnoxious (j/k), post the story link here so everyone can see the stats. I would guess that is about right on Vocke. I doubt that he had much more than 10 carries in the game. Beechwood decided that the passing game was what they needed to do so the runs were pretty limited after the first quarter. I am not so sure about the stats being even. I would think Mayfield had perhaps 75-100 more total yards, mainly because of that last long grinding drive. I guess we will see when the paper comes out tomorrow.

Well, I came home hoping to see highlights of the game and our local news said they had to replays due to the people in cincinatti not being responsive! I also wanted to post about the poor sportsmanship displayed by the Beechwood A.D., and 2 times I have tried and BGP wont let me! Guess BGP don't want to hear anyting negative about the KING of 1A football! Laugh my butt off!

So who has more 1A titles since Mayfield joined Class A?

As someone asked, I think it was Toothpick or Snake, what if Beechwood did not fumble after they were driving deep the first drive of the game? As I mentioned to both TP and Snake at halftime, that concerned me. We will never know, but if Beechwood takes that opening drive in for a TD, it could have been a different story!

 

As mentioned by a few fans, and more importantly the two coaches that matter, the head coaches, said the "dagger" was the 97 yard kick off return by Mayfield in the 3rd. Beechwood gets some points on the board and many think this could be the turning point, I was even saying to the person beside me it would be great if the Mayfield returner would drop the ball, and he did! It didn't look like Beechwood froze, I don't know what the heck happened, but to get 97 yards after that? WOW!

 

As Al Pacino said in Any Given Sunday,"The margin for error is so small, I mean 1/2 a step too late or too early, and you don't quite make it, 1/2 half second too slow or too fast you don't quite catch it".

Jason, you have a fixation on the 95 game. Yeah, Mayfield is 4-0 against Beechwood and what we needed to get 2 more titles was to play them more in title games.

 

Snake that was just a comment. I was a senior starting guard in the 94 game against Murray so i was gone when they played you guys. The only thing that would irk me is that Beechwood is a 2 point conversation away from winning 7 straight titles. But you guys made the plays to win. What do you mean you need to get 2 more titles to play?

Being a relative new comer to NKY, I only hear the rumors of what BW football was in the past. I really dont agree with the way the coaches handle the players. Having been around many coaches, at all levels, I find the tantrums on the sidelines and in the locker room to be a poor example as how to behave.

This is high school football , and the players are young men working through life deciding who they will become. Teams are a reflection of the leadership! To coach with fear and intimidation at a school like Beechwood is an injustice to the players. The goal of any person working with the youth of today should be to give them tools they can use in the future. Fear and intimidation wont work for these kids.

Now I am not saying the coaching staff is all evil or anything like that. I do believe they need to look at themselves, as we all need to from time to time.

I am very proud my son decided to follow other pursuits, and not play for Noel Rash or to be associated with this football team...

Jason, Mayfield has fallen off, we are currently in the midsts of our longest period without a title since the class system began. There appears to be a resurgents in the program looking at what we have comming up over the next 5-6 years which is impressive given we are a small rural town that does not get alot of people moving in or out or have a nearby metro area to draw from. I think we will have a pretty good shot next year if our young line works hard this off season. The new qb is Luke Guhy's litttle brother and he is ahead of Luke Guhy in terms of where he is at so we will see. I get the feeling some feel as the Romans did when the Barbarians sacked Rome. There should be no disgrace in getting beat by Mayfield, we are in the top 10 in the nation in all time wins and have a couple titles ourselves. The good thing for you guys is that all streaks have to eventually come to an end (except for UK-UT apparently). Bw should be able to use these losses as motivation to prepare for next year. Danville got us like 5 or 6 times in a row so we know your pain. It seems to me like alot of people in NKY just expect BW to win and have no respect for us and we are not your ordinary 1A program. Our expectations are a state title ever year and we are not intimidated by Bw or anyone else but by now I suspect that Mayfield has got that point across. I think you guys feel like you are slipping but I have no doubt BW will still get a share of the pie but we always get our share as well.

So one of the outstanding plays of the game was BW's pass in the first series of the game. The reciever did a sprinters hurdle over the Cardinal db to make that play go for about 40 more yards. That was a great effort, anyone else get a smile over that recievers effort? I did even though it scared the hell out of me that BW was on the march
