I'm sure very few people know this. But Siple quit the day of the playoff game. A few hours before game time. But as bad as the school board is in CC they would still hire him. I purposely left out the word coach when describing Siple. No true coach would quit game day.

Coach Styer was a good coach and is a better man. Stepped up for the Camels when nobody else would.

I think Wags will be the new head coach at CC..JMO

What was the reason given for Coach Styer's departure?

This is an attractive job for a new HC:

 

1) New multi-million dollar stadium with seating for 4,000 on the grounds of the high school. No more "away" games at Bob Miller Stadium. Stadium may be ready for play by mid next season.

2) Good stable of underclassmen players. JV was 6-3 and Freshmen 7-2 in 2010.

3) A youth program that is thriving and growing. Over 200 players in the program in 2010.

4) The administration DOES want a winner and will support that effort moving forward.

If the administration would not support someone who played there. Coached there. Has taught there for 20 years. When no one wanted the job they ask Coach Styer not once but twice when people turned it down. There is no one that loves CCHS more then coach Styer. If they can not support him then they WILL NOT support anyone else. He was the perfect person and coach for them.

Agreed. But CC isnt a school or a program that can afford to hire an assistant at this point in time unless of course that would be Weinrich of Highlands and that wont happen.

CC is in desperate need to continue the path that Styer has paved and build off of his direction. CC open position deserves someone with some serious Head coaching experience and that fits Siple and perhaps Lickert of Holmes?

The best thing that could happen to CC is start their own Jr Football League and not count on Red Devils as their feeder system.

 

The Camels have a youth football league of their own. I believe it stops at the fifth grade level maybe sixth. Then they are all crammed into middle school football. I would like to see it go through eight grade level, where you have the chance to develop so many more players per position, ie; Highlands football. Love'em or hate'em the Highlands system works, and makes a coaches job easier.

I was told that Coach Styer wanted to spend more time with his wife and daughters. If you know Troy, that has always been a struggle for him. He loved coaching football, but the time it took away from his wife and especially his daughters was very difficult for him.

 

Congrats to Coach Styer and the entire Campbell County program. They have made great strides under Coach Styer's watch.

Once again, take it through the eight grade level, don't loose good quality players by overloading a middle school team.

My fear is that this is true and they will not get a good coach because of this.

What about coach Brown from Pendleton? He would be a great young coach, it maybe what CC needs.

Could not agree more with you. He is no coach in my book as well. For those who are aware of what was happening during the season with him, you could actually say he quit after the Boone game because his support for the program had declined tremendously.
