Get rid of the Administration, the Superindtendent, and some of the current board members and Campbell County will go a long way. One board member kids go to Beechwood, remember who voted her in. Another board member does not even make 1/3 of the meetings, the Superintendent is joke, and the High School Principal is as pathetic as they come. Ask her how many times has she watch the sports prgrams and the same goes for Strong. They might show up at a big game or meet, but for the most part they are no where to be found. Ask them what Senior Nights they attended and shook the hands of the athletes.

 

Coach Styer did a good job, but there was some issues with disipline over the years, he had some coaches that were good coaches and some that were awful. He was put into a situation when he took the job and has poured a foundation to help get the ship moving again. Hopefully they can get someone that has no ties with the County and really make it a great program.

As for name calling, calling me a joke is fine, I can take it. But you know that I speak the truth.

 

Agree totally with both! Someone from outside with no ties is imperative! A clean house is a very good thing!

To say that the administration is a joke based on your observations of who does not attend hs games is absurd. I agree that the admin should be supportive of all sports, clubs, etc. However, their primary focus should be on academics. Based on the latest state rankings, CC Schools is #14 among public school systems in KY (based on test scores). CC Schools was ranked in the #70's when Strong became Superintendent.

 

We can agree that Troy Styer did a good job during his tenure.

As much as I agree with you on the academics aspect of all of this, the kids (athletes) do not see it this way. IMO, academics are the #1 priority. The kids would like to see their principals and heck teachers at their games and it does not happen often. I understand teachers have their own life and so do the principals but I think for the most part kids would respect them (teachers & administrators) much more if they showed up to a game or two a season. When I played high school athletics and a teacher/principal came to a game it showed they cared not just about how I did in the classroom but on the field as well. I also think some teachers do not realize that some kids need that extra support from them.

 

I also agree, Coach Styer did a fantastic job. He will be greatly missed but now he will be able to be with his 4 girls much more often.

If my memory is right but when Schlarman was the head coach his first year Strong was the principal and Renee Boots was an assistant then his 2nd year Boots was not there (I think she went to Newport High School) and Strong became the Super. I could be off a year but I think this is how it went.

So who were the administrators that told Schlarman that athletics was not important?

The real joke are posters like you that contribute nothing positive to the process. You pay your $15 annual fee to BGP's and lower yourself to name calling under the shroud of a screen name. [/b]CC now has a real opportunity (and a little more time this go round) to dig in and find a long term coach that will build upon Troy's program and take the Camels to the next level.

He wasn't just talking about showing up at the games. Its the way they run things in our school district. Ok, the academic scores are better but you are going to give Strong and the administration credit for that? C'mon, that is a joke. The scores are better due to state influence, teachers and students; not the administration and principals. If you only knew some of the stuff that goes on behind closed doors with the Campbell County School board and within the schools, you would be shocked. As far as UKFan's statement on the school board member who's kids go to be Beechwood, she should be let go. How can you make decisions about "our" school system when it isn't even good enough for your kids. She is just upset because her lawsuit last year didn't have any merit.

I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Lickert goes after this job! This will be his chance to get out of Holmes and avoiding a annual beatdown by the Bluebirds. I am sure it's not his ideal job (which I believe for him would be Boone Co.); but until that job opens...this one is pretty attractive!
