Losing Ritter probably cost CCH one, maybe two TD's. He is by far their best defensive player IMO (yes, better than Timmerman). He is an emotional player and it sounds like he went too far. I can not remember the last time I saw a player ejected from a game so I hope it was a clear call for ejection. You hate to see that happen in any game, especially a tough playoff game.

 

I disagree that it cost CCH anything. Unless Paul was going to move to D-line and try to stop Jude in the backfield it didn't have an effect. The only argument I might make it the psychological impact.

 

Lastly, he and the injured safety Dan Gregory are the top 2 defenders.

 

The inability of the front 7 or 8 hurt the Colonels.

Dixie is better than Covcath and honestly your Eagles got lucky that you saw the Blue Colonels in round 2 and not the Red Colonels.

 

Pike would've picked the JC defense apart tonight and they also have a much better defense. You guys will see them eventually as long as your coach doesn't try to run from Highlands to 5A.

 

Not a prayer. With Dixie all you have to do is wait them out. They'll eventually decompose right before your eyes. They'd have gotten KILLED if they'd been playing JC last night.

When Paul went out (on what looked to me on replay an unwarranted ejection, but you can't hear anything on the replay) it totally changed the feel of the game. He is their leader, plan and simple. Unfortunately with Gregory also out there wasn't an emotional spark plug on the D side of the ball and they looked like they were just trying to hang on the rest of the night.

Losing Ritter was key in two areas. One he would have been moved up as an extra LB. He is the emotional leader of the defense. He elevates the players around him. CovCath lost Ritter for the 2nd half of the Ryle game, 2nd Half of NCC, all of the La Salle game and for 2 1/2 quarters of the JC game. All of those game saw Covcath's defense have a huge emotional let down in his abscence.

 

Something no one has mentioned is the onside kick which was touched at 8 yards by a JC player, it completely changed the game. CovCath should have had the ball at the JC 48. Instead JC gets the ball at the 50, and the rest is history.

Snce JC threw a whopping two passes the entire game, would have seemed reasonable to leave the safety back and shove everyone else up to the line to stop JJ or at least force a passing game. When the CCH safety finishes with the most tackles, there's a problem.

BTW didn't want this thread to end without congratulating the young lady from the JC Middle School on her signing of our National Anthem. The strong and powerful voice coming out of such a small young girl, surprised the heck out of me.

Her name is Marlena and for those of you that were not listening, she's also blind. This young lady is an inspriration to everyone. Very personable and as pleasant a person to be around you'll ever meet. She was runner up in an Idol singing contest recently.

Are you saying that the problem with CCH is the coaching staff? Are changes needed in Park Hills?
