Some people just aren't happy unless their whining or complaining. To say the current system is watered down may be a legit complaint, but, to say that the amount of teams making the playoffs hurts Kentucky High School football is flat out silly. Any dollar earned for you athletic program is important for funding all the non-producing and title 9 sports, it also seems obvious that as with everything in life, the more you do something the higher the chances are that you'll get better at it, so every practice and game is making the majority of those participating better...

 

Well then why don't we have a two and out playoff system. You know some of the little johnies may have been hurt or sick for that first week of the playoffs and this would give them an extra week to heal up or get better and try again. Another good solid week of practice. Another week to improve and show what they have the next time. Another week of revenues. :rolleyes: Enough is enough.

You are 100% right on that, but just because we live in a society that bends over backwards to please everybody, doesn't make it right. Going to 6 classes with a state of Kentucky's population is flat out silly. Some officials make more money. Some schools. Not as many as you might think, and it keeps the private/public argument at bay. In the end though, the same teams keep winning it all, and now you see a couple of more added to the mix with the two more classes being added, and then as those teams build dynasties folks will complain again, and we'll add more and more classes.

Many coaches, ADs and Superintendents have agendas that are about making themselves look good. That is clear in the in the subjective, arbitrary and concocted approach to the whole system. 6 Classes - why? Ohio has 4 times the schools and still only 6 high level divisions. Indiana has 50% more schools and yet only has 5 top classes. Limit 1A and 6A to 32 teams - why? Neither Ohio nor Indiana does this gerrymandering of the divisions. Even split numerically for all. Artificially, subjectively and arbitrarily put 4 top power houses into the same district. Why?

 

What has happened to Kentucky High School football is a simple disgrace. No other state attempts to manipulate and gerrymander the set up like here. It is truly sad.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe North Carolina crown's 8 State Champions, this change to their system took place when I lived there and much of the same grumblings where heard after that change...

 

Bottom line is, my faith for what’s best for KY football lies with the Coach's, AD's and Superintendents and yours doesn't, to me that’s like going to the gardener for stock tips when your neighbor is a investment banker.

A better analogy than yours is letting the Coach's and AD's determine the playoff system is like asking the guy at Jiffy Lube if I need a new air filter.

With all of the complaints on the playoff system, I am sure the players, school and fans of the two teams that will win the state tournament that many of you are saying shouldn't be there, won't complain or be unhappy or think that they have won a tainted championship.

 

Then if 6 is good, 10 would be great and 20 even better. It really is all about making little Johnny feel good about himself (even if it is a bit artificial). Right?

The khsaa basically sets your 11th game and the real playoffs begin this week. Get over it. It is here for at least 4 more years. If you want a change talk to your coaches and AD's.

I dont think financialy schools can continue to travel these long distances for district games. 6 classes has it so watered down. I cant stand this 6 class system . Maybe if we had 400 teams it would be a good thing however we only have half that.

How many schools play football in North Carolina? I bet they have more than 36-37 teams per class.

My point is that a lot of fans that look at the big picture and don't necessarily want what's best for their individual school actually loathe this system.
