Wow!! Didn't see this one coming..

WOW, me neither, as well as a very, very vast amount of others.

Didn't SK get shut out by the Middies earlier this year? Middletown must have been looking ahead of Wayne.

So SK gets beat by the "supposed" best team in Cincy, but yet the Middies get knocked out of the playoffs in the first round.

Hmm......

Proves without a doubt how superior Ohio football is to Kentucky, and weakens SK's argument about the tough Middies even further.

Middletown would beat any team in our state this year, next year and probably even the year after that. I believe they start 2 seniors on offense and 3 seniors on defense. They were loaded with sophomores. The "young talent" on that time is scary good.

So this game was the deal breaker for the OH/KY debate? I thought that was a forgone conclusion many moons ago. Middletown was and like is still much better than SK, and apparently Wayne isn't too bad either.

Any team? I don't know about that.... people are misunderestimating Wayne, they are a good team with a 5 star QB. They should have Colerain in a few weeks.

Just some info on Middletown.... They were not the best team in Cincinnati.

Middletown was almost beaten by Princeton.

Lakota East played them very well and kept up with them.

Their schedule was not very strong.

The way the GMC is set up they missed Colerain this year.

Yes, the QB is very good and young, they have good team speed and fly around very well. Their youth is probably what hurt them the most this year, the times I saw them the QB drove people nuts.

In all I would say they are an average to above average OHIO team.

I would agree. People are shocked cause they drilled SK, but I warned SK they were about to face some track stars, you don't see much of that in NKY except some Highlands teams.

I don't think anyone ever thought Middletown was the best the best team in Cincinnati, Colerain topped the coaches poll and has been No. 2 in the state AP poll all year.

Middletown is better than just "above average" in Ohio, they're good. That said, Colerain, St. X, Moeller, and LaSalle were all better Cincy teams than Middletown. Had Elder gotten in instead of Wayne, Middletown likely would have suffered the same fate, as the Panthers were playing very well late in the season.

Colerain is the favorite among the regional final four, but I think the next two weeks should be fun to watch. Centerville/Wayne round two will be interesting. St. X/Colerain will be a slobber knocker. Cards are more talented, but X is pretty healthy and have one of the state's best coaches.

I am not saying a team like Middletown can come over here for a full season and run the table, but a lot of people in KY still do not realize (or do not want to admitt it) how strong Ohio football is top to bottom!

But Middletown is above an average football team! It's just they are in a strong football area, and having to play tougher teams on average week in and week out.

SK = MOOOOOOOO

I know how good Middletown is....my reference to them being the best team in Cincinnati though came from another poster making that comment after his team got drilled by them earlier in the year.

I think we keep forgetting Chad Lawrence was in no shape to play this game if he was 100% we would have had a better game against the Middies.
