Boosters Ask Brian Kelly To Resign?

Sorry, but 20 is an adult. If not then Iraq and Afgan is full of American kids carring M16s.

Many would argue that is indeed the case.

The Army is totally different. If you know anyone who has enlisted in a branch of the military, certainly you know how much different they are even after basic training. 18 is the age of consent, but in most circumstances someone 18-21 years old (maybe older in some cases) do not have anywhere near the maturity of the common adult. In most circumstances I feel that a 20 year old is still a kid, maybe not legal but definitely in the way they conduct themselves.

I didn't realize Kelly held a gun on him.

He is the head coach. Everything that happens on the practice field is his responsibility.

Yep and they carryout orders. Very rarely does a GI not follow orders no matter what situation it may put in him. Bad analogy

So if this guy didn't go up in the tower he was going to jail?

What's the difference between this and a kid overheating and dieing? Coach is responsible IMO

Yeah, that's the same.

Never said its the same. I actually think it could be argued that Kelly and the rest of the coaches are more responsible.

No. but possibly dismissed from his duties. From what you're saying, it sounds like you were there. I doubt that.

1. Kid could make a reasonable assumption that if BK wants him up there and BK has a lot more experience than the kid, than it must be safe and ok.

2. Kid is put in a hard position, he works with the team and he is going to leave there with a ton of contacts and references that is going to give him a major leg up in the business world or whereever he is headed with his degree. He refuses and all of that and the advantages of working in the ND football program vanishes.

Exactly what have I said that makes it sound like I was there? I simply disagree that Kelly or anyone should be charged criminally for this.

Don't the kids working for the FB team get help with the cost of books...maybe a scholly? Certainly they could also "qualify" for other type of aid. IF this was the case at ND, then THAT is ample "pressure" enough to compel a person to act against better judgement. My prayers go out to the young man's family and friends.

I haven't read much about this. Is there any information about the student's interaction with BK or someone else from the ND staff prior to going up to film?

The President of Notre Dame came out with a strong statement taking responsibility for the student's death and also made a strong statement of support for Brian Kelly. I would be surprised if Kelly is fired after that statement.
