November 5, 201015 yr Actually, they are, almost always, securely fastened in with some sort of clasp, rope, etc... I would assume he was wearing a fall retrainant harness but that is not what I meant. And it sure doesn't keep you from getting down if you want to.
November 6, 201015 yr I still think the kids tweets leads you to believe that he knew of the inherent danger and failed to act. That could be used against his family in some fashion.
November 6, 201015 yr What is false? This whole report that the boosters asked Kelly to step down. And no I don't know an elite booster.
November 6, 201015 yr This whole report that the boosters asked Kelly to step down. And no I don't know an elite booster. Then how do you know it's false? Either way Brian Kelly's on the hot seat now, and could be in a court room soon as well.
November 6, 201015 yr I still think the kids tweets leads you to believe that he knew of the inherent danger and failed to act. That could be used against his family in some fashion. I think it will be the other way around, the kid was worried because of the weather, yet he was still told to go up there. The kid was worried about the weather yet the coaches and the AD claim they had no idea about the bad weather? Then at OSU, you have Tressel saying in an interview the day before how he was worried to send the kids up on the towers? I have been an ND football fan all of my life as well is disliking OSU, but I see which coaching staff cares about more than just football! Some need to wake up, as GT said in his second post here, this will not be good for ND and Kelly, PERIOD! I can't believe some are comparing being told to go up a tower to being told to walk across an interstate, get real! You have a tower that goes as high as a college/pro goal post that is supposed to be safe, and people are comparing it to frogger? Just by Kelly and the AD saying they did not know about the weather leads me to believe that they either did/do not care about sending the kids up there, or they are now trying to cover their rear ends. You are a kid who maybe loves ND football, as well as ND, you like the video field or work, you are now working with the ND football program, you enjoy it, you LOVE IT! You are told or expected to go up on the tower and film, you figure that the coaches or whoever said to go up today know a little more than you about if it is safe, as the coaches also have be aware of the weather. As one person mentioned about their job, they can refuse to do a job if they think their safety is as risk, but refuse a few times, then you will lose your job. I still think it's odd the Tressel was worried yet the ND coaches were not.
November 6, 201015 yr The ND president says it's ND's fault. http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/sports/college_sports/Notre-Dame-president%3A-School-responsible-in-student-death Plus, some OSHA regulations may have been violated as well. Wasn't this the same front that blew through here last week?
November 6, 201015 yr Actually, they are, almost always, securely fastened in with some sort of clasp, rope, etc... Not all buckets require tie off. Actually if you are in a bucket that does not require tie and you do tie off, it is an OSHA violation.
November 6, 201015 yr 20 years old is not a kid as much as people want them to be. I don't know a single 20 year old who thinks like a real adult. And I know 20 year olds that are already in careers making good money, 20 year olds than have been on their own for years, 20 year olds that are parents. Not a single one is a true adult and to be honest with you if put in the same position I think that many of them would have went up on that tower just like the kid at Notre Dame. That doesn't make them stupid, it makes them impressionable. For a young catholic football fan does it get any bigger than Notre Dame football? He was probably living a dream doing the two things he loved in filming and watching ND football, he was not going to tell them no. Not many guys his age would say no to BK, or the AD or whoever. He probably thought that if he didn't do it he would get fired and if he did do it certainly nothing bad would happen to him. I still think the kids tweets leads you to believe that he knew of the inherent danger and failed to act. That could be used against his family in some fashion. I hope that doesn't help their case. ND should honestly just take responsibility for the whole thing. Even if he went up there on his own, adults in charge representing the University didn't stop him or make him come down. Do the right thing and face the courts.
November 6, 201015 yr Let me clarify. Whether or not they can bring criminal charges I can't say. Whether or not they should is what I am arguing. IMO, what happened here is not criminal and Kelly shouldn't be criminally liable. If I'm driving in my car and a drunk driver makes the decision to drive and kills me is it criminal? I know the risk of getting behind the wheel after 11pm. Anyone who thinks this isn't criminal isn't thinking of a 20 year old man that should have never even been asked to go on that tower. He was ******* terrified to be up there. There was person on another tower so obviously they thought they needed to be up there. It's a crime that this young man was tragically killed. I like BK a lot, but that doesn't change what happened.

Yeah, that's the same.
