Reds Hot Stove League for 2011

Featured Replies

That's what I first thought of when I read that they were interested in Heisey. I'd love that as a Reds fan.

When the Cardinals were interested in him the package was something like: Jay/Ryan/Motte or Boggs. I'm sure if Walt wanted to he could figure it out, but like you said I think their content with Janish.

Walt lets his players prove themselves though. I bet he gives Janish a chance and if it doesn't work out he's got a lot of pieces to make something happen in June or July. Walt is one of, if not the smartest guys in baseball so he'll make the right move.

I threw a tweet at Ctrent about this and he doesn't think its really that great of an idea for the price Barlett would cost.

Source confirms #Rays have dealt SS Jason Bartlett to SD for young arms Cesar Ramos and Adam Russell. More to come at ESPN.com

The Reds signed Miguel Cairo to a two-year deal worth $2MM. Cairo, 36, hit .290/.353/.410 in 226 plate appearances for the Reds, playing mostly at the infield corners.

Also the D'backs seem to be interested in trading for Chris Heisey.

I was hoping the reds would add some small parts to put them in better shape then last. We can only hope that some of our players improve because it looks like that is the only way the Reds will improve.

I'm pretty sure Jocketty thinks they're good enough to start the season and see how it's going before making any moves.

Just like last year any moves that they make will likely be after the winter meetings.

I like that we brought Cairo back, but I don't think he improves the club much. If (when?) Scott Rolen goes down, we need a 3rd baseman. I don't think Cairo, nor Francisco, can fill in regularly.

How much money did the Rockies give Ty Wiggington? I saw a headline that Jeff Keppinger may be available. He'd be a decent option, IMO.

If I were Jocketty, I'd ask what the Red Sox wanted in exchange for Jacoby Ellsbury...

I was just thinking the same thing.

^I don't see why they would want to trade him. He fits in very nicely on the Sox.
