Reds Hot Stove League for 2011

I think Podsednik could help the Reds but I don't think we're going to part with Jonny Gomes. The two in a platoon type situation would make for an interesting lineup.

I'm all for Posednik if he brings his women!

Agree. I think you could start Gomes most nights then bring in Podsednik in the late innings for his speed and defense.

Podsednik isn't great defensively, but he probably is an upgrade over Gomes.

Absolutely, drop dead gorgeous.

#Reds will tender offers to Votto, Bruce, Cueto, Volquez, Bray, Burton. Jocketty: Burton came back and showed good arm strength at the end

I'd bet that Jimmy Edmonds comes back for one more year.

^ I'd imagine he will retire.

For what it's worth, I asked someone with the Reds about it a few weeks ago and they said that he wants to come back and they thought he would.

Don't get me wrong I hope he CAN and can be productive but at his age I am not going to count on either.

I agree with you. I think he is more valuable off the field with the Reds. Look at how much he helped Bruce within a few days after arriving with the Reds. Also just that club house impact he has, so valuable with a young team.

Reds extend Bronson Arroyo. 3 years / 35 million.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. He's been great for the Reds, but at the same time they need to lock up young players and that's a lot of money for a guy like Arroyo.

It's really only a 2 year extension since he was already under contract for the upcoming season. He is now signed thru 2013 per Rosenthal.

I don't really have a problem with it. They might have over paid a little but I wanted to keep him around.

By extending his contract, the Reds probably added to his trade value after this upcoming season. Now he'll have 2 years left when we trade him next offseason. :D
