I agree with you, I feel for the Jordan kid, the kid is a stud. It's a shame he has to indure this his senior year.

 

I to have been to a couple Boone games, J. Opp is the real deal, shame he is taking a beating each game with in a system set to fail. From what I can see, Opp has good speed and run over people strength, BUT, if you can't pass the ball , again, the system causes the team to fail. I really hate to see any coach lose his job, but if you can't adapt your play scheme to the players talent you have and can't spread your offense out to keep up with the times, you are going to keep having the same results, it's time for a change. School administration needs to man up, at least talk to the coaching staff, ask what they think, cause the only ones suffiring are the kids, especially the seniors. I have also seen that to pound the ball play after play, you need strong line blocking, and to ths point Boone may have some big players, but they sure arn't getting the job done, no holes for the running backs to through 70% of the time. Opp, keep your head up, I'm sure you'll be playing ball some where next year. Good luck Boone the remainder of the year.

I think everyone has the same general consensus on the reason for their offensive struggles. Why is the defense struggling? Surely they don't lack the athletes to have a solid defense?

You would think something would change your a running team and there is several NKY QB's that have more rushing yards than Boone's top RB that don't look right.

Some of the above want a spread offense but if the QB is throwing two int's in 6 attempts last night, then imagine what he might do if he threw it 25 times? Be careful what you wish for. Openheimer is a great running back, but they do not have the OL that they have had in past years. Maybe he is doing the best with what he has. He has proven his ability to coach in previous years. Go back and look up the archive scores on KHSAA and see the points BC was putting up on NKY opponents between 2003 thru 2008. Maybe he didnt beat Trinity, but who really has? Coach Thompson is comfortable coaching his style of offense, not the spread. He is going to be more successful coaching what he knows.

So you actually think that X'S and o"s cant change a game with matchups..Do you really believe that Conner had a better team than Boone fri night? There are two teams that I would say that Boone wouldn't have a chance against in NKY area..I cant believe you are telling me that changing offensive strategies would not benefit this team....

A team can throw some screens that are high probability without being a passing team, just to mix things up. Spreading the field can help open up their running game. I doubt any changes will happen coaching wise at Boone. Parents voiced similar concerns about the basketball coach a few years ago, and the Boone County principal fully supported the coach.

Boone County started the season off beating Henry Clay at Henry Clay, beat Scott County at Scott, then had to play the one of the top rated teams in their area, Anderson Ohio,then Highlands, the next two games, came out with alot of starters injured not playing in the next two games. I will agree about coaching, but who are you to say they don't have the talent, the talent is there , Brown and Oppenheimer for two players , for starters with talent. Coaching may be a talent issuse, and I will assume that is the talent you were refering to.

The main problem is coaching. The so called "tradition" need's to be addressed and fixed quick! Everyone is passing Boone County by. I believe in Boone's coaches and have for years. I don't believe in the way they do things though. The Qb situation being the main problem. He's not suite for the postion. He had I think 5 attempts on Friday, and I think 2 completions and one interception. That will never get it done. I thought after the Highlands game they would be ready for districts and take the first 3 games with ease. Obviously I was wrong. Scheduling must be fixed in order for them to rebuild the program. I love seeing teams who try to beat the best, but in Boone's case it's not going to work. They need some easy games to start the season off to build confidence heading into districts. Best of luck to the Boone County team though the rest of the season. Hope they can turn it around.

Before you cry too much most of those kids came from Conner and that's why Conner will be 5A starting next year. Conner lost at least a third of their sophomore athletes 3 years ago and now these kids are 3 year starts at Cooper. Boone hardly got touched with the new school, period. They got beat by Conner last night whom have lost more then Boone so the excuse doesnt fly. Its just a down year and the coaching doesnt match their players abilities. Stop there run and you stop them. The Rebels threw 6 passes last night and completed only 3 with 2 interception. Conner's LBs were up to the task of stopping Oppenheimer and that's all it takes. By the way Jordan O is a stud and its a shame that he is having a tough senior year. He has worked his butt off every year to have to suffer a senior season like this is tough for him l bet.

 

Crying? There's no crying in football. The question about enrollment had nothing to do with the addition of Cooper. Guru mentioned the glory days of Boone which mostly occured prior to the opening of Ryle. My question was, prior to Ryle opening was that Conner's district? If so, Conner has a much better argument when it comes to the addition of new schools since they also took a hit with the opening of Cooper.

Great post BCRD. Below are some of your posts. You seem to be back tracking a bit and you also seem somewhat contradictory of yourself. Boone will be just fine, and I think you and the other naysayers need to relax a bit. Sports are cyclical and people need to realize that. You can't be on top every year when you are in a public school system, it's just not going to happen. I'm glad you are starting to see the light with regards to coach Trosper's philosophy. I'm sure you would trade him for Thompson tomorrow.
