September 29, 201016 yr Since Obama started falling badly in the polls, he has pushed harder in Afhanistan. He has also spoken about his Christian faith, as well as been seen finally going to church. Conclusion: Obama is trying to be more like us by clinging to his God & his guns. "He does seem to be talking about his faith more," said John Green, a political scientist at the University of Akron and a senior fellow at the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. "That is a contrast to the previous 18 months where he hardly talked about it at all." Read more: http://www.mcclatchydc.com/2010/09/28/101294/obama-talks-up-his-faith-in-jesus.html#ixzz10vc3RVH4

September 29, 201016 yr I think Obama is being more public about his faith because obviously ignoring those who called him anti-Christian, Muslim, say they don't know what his faith is, only fed their fury. Personally, I don't think he should have to explain what his faith is. I didn't vote for him based on his religious beliefs, nor do I believe he will be a more/less effective leader if he's Christian (Protestant, Catholic, Methodist, any other denomination) or not.

I disagree, I think if he was truly a Christian and followed God's word, I think that would certainly help him be a good leader, but it's one thing to say you're a Christian and another to actually be one. If a politician says their a Christian, it's sort of like my kid brother screaming, "Hey, you won't believe the size of this floater I left in the toilet." I have to see it to believe it.
September 29, 201016 yr Maybe Obama will become a minister - as some of the previous Presidents were. Or resume services inside the Capitol building on Sundays as was done Interesting video. Some interesting details they do not usually mention during the normal Capitol tours. Direct link to same video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlfEdJNn15E Readable background with same history. http://www.wallbuilders.com/LIBissuesArticles.asp?id=90

Haven't got time to go into all of it now but a quick cursory review shows the flaws in the "Bible authorized and paid for by Congress" story: http://www.liarsforjesus.com/downloads/LFJ_chap_1.pdf From about page 13 or 14 on deals with the instance mentioned "this time" by Barton. You will find this had as much to do with someone wanting to publish then sell Bibles as it did a word from Congress about authorizing the Bible as more than what the culture already authorized it for, a Book of Faith. A briefer article from the author of the above book: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-rodda/no-mr-beck-congress-did-n_b_598698.html

Considering a lot of leaders in history have lead based on the ideology and religious beliefs, I think its very important to know what they are.

I was more intrigued with the use of the capitol building for services. After taking the capitol tour a few times that part of history never comes up.

And just as many leaders in history have given lip-service to religion as a way to appease their constituents, even if they never really meant a word of it.
September 30, 201016 yr And just as many leaders in history have given lip-service to religion as a way to appease their constituents, even if they never really meant a word of it. So you shouldn't listen to their religious stances? You can say the same about their policies and what they promise to change. Some lie and follow up on them and some don't. You still should listen to them. The same goes for religion.
September 30, 201016 yr I think Obama's policies have been very Christian. Outside of increasing the war effort. Bailing people out was what Christ was all about.
September 30, 201016 yr What do you want from your President? One minute he isn't a Christian- So he trying to show people his faith. Now this isn't good enough. War - One minute he is to soft - Now that he is stepping things up people complain. So he is darned if he does or darned if he doesn't.
