South made their first regional final in 20 years last season and North has never been. That does not sound that those two are usually on top. That is fact, not opinion.

For Shelby all of their best basketball players went to Collins and after watching Shelby this summer they may be #5 in that district, however Collins will be solid and well coached with Curtis Turley being there. South will be young but dangerous if hitting all of those 3's they shoot. Someone mentioned it earlier in a post, that on a particular night some of the sleepers can knock off a favorite and I could not agree more, its winning and beating 3 good teams in a row where it becomes a struggle. Some playes to watch are listed below . With that being said

I think that Simon, Oldham and North are a little better than everyone else "BUT" can lose to anyone else!

It was ask if there were any thoughts on "who's on top". I take that as meaning this years teams, and I believe the three I mentioned will make a run. Actually I hope South & North don't as they are in our district. You need to move on to someone else. You take yourself way to seriously.

Mack was simply pointing out that you erroneously stated that North Oldham, South Oldham, and Shelby County would be at the top "as usual", which, excluding Shelby County, has not been a " usual" occurrence. You will have to excuse Mr. Knife, as he happens to be stickler for those pesky things called facts.

Watch out for Andrew Sampson from SK. I know he is only a sophmore but the kid can flat out shoot the rock! He may be the best youngster in the region now that Hicks has moved on.

Always wanting to hear about the young talent, also the Foree kid form Eminence is a solid youngster, his brother signed with EKU from Eminence several years back. Levithch is just a sophomore I think from North, Gruber from Oldham, and Sherry from South are all solid sophomores.

Don't forget Swanson and Bowling. SK should be the top team in the 8th they have the shooters and the big men!

SK was young last year and a year makes a big difference both in maturity and team chemistry. Add in younger players moving up that were talented last year to add to depth and the 6'8 transfer from Holmes and I'd be surprised if SK doesn't make it past the first round this year and contend for the title.

They beat WTown by a bunch, they beat WV by one in the finals.

SK will go as far as Chambers and Doss carry them. They have some nice young talented sophomores and the addition of Stevenson gives them a wide body in the middle so it should be a promising year for the Pioneers.

That group of Sophs at SK could be special. Sampson, Swanson, Bowling, Monson, Ayers, Racke and the rest all won middle school championships with the Twenhofel kids winning back to back.

 

Walton also has some good young talent, as does Grant.

 

It'll be interesting to see if the young guys can stay hungry and push the older guys for minutes.

For the SK fans that keep bringing up Stephens, you're sadly mistaken if you think he's going to make any type of impact.

 

He has improved some since last year but there's a reason he rarely dressed varsity at Holmes last year.

 

He takes up space and that's about it.
