I don't see how you can top the CSAA (Catholic School Athletic Association) program which is the major source of players for St. X., Holy Cross, DeSales, and Trinity. :thumb:

Three elementary schools (1st grade thru 5th) and one middle school (6th thru 8th)feed the league. If you are from out of town you can play if room is available. Fort Thomas kids are given first dibbs. It also cost more for out of city kids.

 

Depending on the number of kids in each grade, you can have between 4 and 5 teams each for 3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade, and 7th/8th grade. Usually 7th/8th grade only has 4 teams.

Jefferson County Public Schools has started a program for middle schools this year. Many think this will be a boon for ther Jeff. Cnty. high schools.

I know of one eighth grader from Beechwood that is playing in the FTJFL.

I think South Kenton has a great feeder program!

 

Not exactly. I experienced both South Kenton and Twenhofel. No doubt that the better football was played at the Middle School.

Actually there are several from Ft. Mitchell that play in the league. Like Henry said, it's open to anyone as long as there is room. Wonder why the FTJFL is getting so many from there? Why aren't they playing for the Spartans?

In NKY, the ftjfl is by far the best program. It has playing time rules, which I think is key in the development of kids, along with keeping the kids interested in the sport. Also, just look at the success of Highlands' program over the years.

It's all personal preference. The NKYFL has had too many great players go through it to say that their system is geared toward developing players. However, I personally like the FTJFL for at least the 3rd and 4th graders so far b/c of the mandate that every kid must play. With the exception of a few, how do you know which 8 and 9 year olds will develop into All State performers, and those that will top out in JR. High??? You don't.

Great Post. That's exactly why the FTJFL is such a good league. Keeping a youngster's interest even if they may not be the best on their 3rd/4th or 5th/6th team is the key.

And there you go. That is absolutely why the FTJFL is one of the top feeder programs around.

In regards to the CSAA, I was a public school kid who realized my potential would best be realized playing amongst the CSAA ranks, and it worked. I played at Trinity and got to realize my dream of playing Division I football afterwards. I want to thank the CSAA, Trinity, and Dennis Lampley for helping to form me to who I am today...
