A little Birdie even told me that apparently Henry's Mother is 10 times lets say "stronger minded" then Henry when it comes to the Birds. Go Birds 20n10

I coach a 3/4th grade team in the FTJRFL and we have 12 hometown kids and 12 from other cities. We have a couple of really athletic kids that come from as far as Burlington, one from Ft. Mitchell, others from Southgate, Newport, Alexandria, etc. Its been very nice seeing the mix of kids and how much they all enjoy it. In fact we have a couple of really good 3rd graders who have earned some playing time during the 4th qtr where its up to the coaches discretion. Great league but there are some things that could be fixed like all leagues.

 

Your kids from Burlington need to find a home in Fort Thomas. You are being humble when you say that they are "good athletes." By the way, you have a tight end that would make a very good running back.

For Louisville the secret is that “all” the best players for Trinity and X don’t come out of the CSAA. Many come out of the two youth programs in Louisville, the KYFL and the Metro League. These two youth leagues combined have over 4000 players which dwarf’s the CSAA numbers. What the CSAA gives Trinity and X is numbers but many of their star players come out of the other two leagues. The vast majority of the top college recruits in Louisville this year have come out of the old Optimist league (which in now disbanded), the KYFL, or the Metro.

I think if FTJFL played the top youth teams in Jefferson Co. (Catholic or Metro) that NKY would dominate. The only reason that the top teams in Louisville are so good each year is that they get top players from LOTS of those teams that then form the teams you see at X & T. This also speaks to why Highlands maintains their superior quality of a program - equal to T & X by most people's standards - despite the smaller enrollment. And incidentally, though I don't know for certain, i would imagine Bowling Green has quite a feeder program because the Purples have been (and still are) one of the top teams in the state in any class.

The CSAA Annual report counted 2262 players participating in football from grades 4-8.

 

I know it's not 4000, but it's not insignificant either.

 

Also, take a look at a program from either school for any game. It lists the parishes those kids belong to.

 

Neither Ox, nor I, stated that all our players come from the CSAA. But just as many KYFL or Metro players wind up in private schools, many CSAA kids wind up in public schools. I would figure the cross-over either way is a wash in the end.
