I've always been a BIG believer in track & field being a great benefit to football.

How can Beechwood be down when they are playing four and five weeks in the playoffs and winning two State Championships in the last three years? Sure, they might not be beating the State Championships from the bigger classes like they did in the 90's but they are not a down program. Not buying it.

 

Anyone complaining of Beechwood's recent success is stretching, stretching big.

Nobody is complaining. Just making a statement of fact after watching them in person quite alot.

Why are top players opting not to play at the senior level? I thought I read in another post 7 or 8 players from years past ( jv and Fresh) are not even on the team. Also didn’t I hear some, not all, varsity captains from last year caused some problems? Actions speak louder than words. If all that matters is wins, they are “fine”.

IMO high school football should be more than just wins and losses.

After watching the coaches on the side lines I can understand the player’s frustrations. Fear and intimidation is no way to coach…

I think that 2007 Beechwood team was one of the strongest they ever had. If next years team will be better than them, they are LOADED.

Talent doesn't win you championships. Hard work will beat talent if talent doesn't work hard. Plus strange things can happen on the field. If the players in place now work as hard as the players on that 2007-2008 group did, then they can win a state championship. IMO there is more depth in the talent pool in this group than there was in 2007-2008. The thing that 2008 group had in addition to talent was great work ethic. It was amazing to see how much extra side work many of those guys put in on top of the already demanding work that is part of the Beechwood program. If this group tries to get by on talent more than hard work, then that state title becomes more iffy. And please do not infer that I am questioning the work ethic of this group at all. I am saying to reach their true potential they need to do even more than what is asked of them by the coaches. It may seem like there is no more to give but there is if you push yourself.

Absolutely. And that is what it is going to take for this group to equal their achievement and get that state title. Achieving that level of chemistry and dedication are easier said than done.

I wasn't aware that team bashing was allowed on here. Why was such a thread like this ever allowed to stay on here this long? It serves no useful purpose and nothing will ever be settled by it. I don't understand the necessity of having this thread. It needs to be closed.
