Wins aren't enough at Highlands, perfection is expected?

Featured Replies

Perfection hmmm good question.... I think state is expected.

National champs is expected. : )

False. Perfection is just icing on the CAKE.

Wins are the rewards found in the pursuit of perfection. No one achieves perfection, but that should never keep you from striving toward it.

I guess what has me scratching my head is as successful and Coach Mueller has been it doesn't take much for Highlands fans to be critical of his game decisions.

Come on G. Why open an old wound? Consensus opinion was that Dale took out his starters way too early to salvage a relationship with Rash. I just hope he doesn't make a habit of this type behavior. Those kids deserve to play most of the game and beat the opposition no matter what the spread. No Highlands fan has questioned his expertise in play calling and critical decision making skills. It seems that folks are putting a spin on this topic.

I have never met a football fan that has not questioned their coach in one way or another. The meltdowns on here are nothing compared to the Florida Gator boards right now. I was one to criticize people for questioning a coaches decisions, but I realize I do it and most people do it when things are not perfect. So to tie this back into the origonal question, I wouldn't say perfection is expected but its pretty darn close to it.

Maybe it's the fact that things are so great right now that people fear any sign that they might change.

Highlands will always be Highlands, but they won't win championships every year. Prior to this 3 year run they were beaten in the 2nd round and 3rd round of the playoffs in 05 and 06. (That seems like a long time ago.)

I'd say the expecation is: don't lose a game in NKY, don't even lose a half like they did against Ryle. Lose to traditional powers in Ohio (only). Win state. Every year.

I think that sums it up nicely, at least for me.
