August 30, 201016 yr The bottom line is that the Reds are tied with Atlanta for the 4th best record in all of baseball. Its not a fluke they are a good ball club. They need to focus and get home field throughout the playoffs. With their schedule compared to the Padre's it is very possible. 20 and 12 should do it. San Diego's is better in the National right now 76-53. The Reds and Atlanta are 75-55.
August 30, 201016 yr Author I know Wolfe is usually pretty tough on the Reds, but I'm thinking that Bailey has pitched well against the Brewers. I might be way off, but for some reason I thiink he has. I really have no idea what to expect from Harang. His numbers in his two rehab starts were awful, but you really can't judge him based on those numbers. If he can give the Reds what he has most of the year, and that's 6 or 7 innings with 4 runs or less, then I think he'll keep them in the game. Gallardo is the Brewers best pitcher IMO, but he has struggled since coming off the DL. I know the Reds beat him around pretty good the last time they faced him. If Cueto can pitch like he did Friday night, and pretty much like he has all year, then I really like the Reds chances on Wednesday. The Brewers have some big sticks, and that's always a big concern, and you just know that Dickerson will come back to haunt is old team somtime during the series. That's just the way things usually go with the Reds. :lol:

The pitching matchups look like this and it looks like the Reds will see 2 lefties. Let's hope Bruce stays hot this week. Monday Wolf vs Bailey Wolf is 3-1 and 3.23 era in his last 6 starts Tuesday Gallardo vs Harang Gallardo is 2-2 and 7.47 era in his last 6 starts Wednesday Narveson vs Cueto Narveson is 2-1 and 4.26 era in his last 6 starts Brewers bats for their last 7 games. Look for Dickerson to play a lot versus all righties. Braun 11-27 .407 (heating up lately) Fielder 8-28 .285 Weeks 7-29 .241 McGehee 5-27 .185 Escobar 6-25 .240 Lucroy 8-23 .348 Cain 4-23 .174 Hart 6-21 .286 Kottaras 6-21 .286 Dickerson 7-16 .438 I think the Wednesday game is the one game they'll win this week. Brantley keeps saying he thinks the Wildcard will come out of the Central because the Reds and Cardinals have the easiest schedules the rest of the way. I'm sure it will pretty much be the Phillies playing inside the East, and the Giants inside the West.

August 30, 201016 yr Author Is the 7-11 start the worst record the Reds have over a 18 game stretch? I'm thinking it has to be. Does anyone know what their longest losing streak of the season is? I want to say 4, maybe 5. I know they were swept in the 4 game series against the Phillies right before the break, but I don't remember if they won or lost the game right before that series.

They went 2-5 agains the Pirates and Nationals this week.

It's probably good for LA and I can't imagine that Chicago would make this move, picking up Manny and $4.3 salary to try to catch the Twins who don't give up 4.5 game leads in Sept.
August 30, 201016 yr I hate to say it but why are the reds pitching Harang tues. night? He has been lit up like a Christmas tree in triple A to the tune of a 9.00 ERA. They are in a pennant race here. Surely they could come up with something better.
