August 30, 201016 yr Rehab stints in AAA are meaningless. Guys aren't trying to win, they are working on stuff. That may mean more fastballs in curveball counts, and vice-versa. Plus, he probably knew very little about every hitter he faced. There's a reason they have a huge binder for each team. I don't feel too bad about Harang going. For some reason I think he's going to pitch well enough to win. Maybe because it's the first meaningful game he's pitched in years.
August 30, 201016 yr I will be happy of course. My point is the last two years he has been not very good. This year his pitches have no movement and he is getting the ball up. If they have no other options fine, pitch him. But I think they could come up with someone else that would give them a better chance to win. For the record I hope the throws a no hitter but a good game will be good too. Odds are he won't.

August 30, 201016 yr I know Wolfe is usually pretty tough on the Reds, but I'm thinking that Bailey has pitched well against the Brewers. I might be way off, but for some reason I thiink he has. I really have no idea what to expect from Harang. His numbers in his two rehab starts were awful, but you really can't judge him based on those numbers. If he can give the Reds what he has most of the year, and that's 6 or 7 innings with 4 runs or less, then I think he'll keep them in the game. Gallardo is the Brewers best pitcher IMO, but he has struggled since coming off the DL. I know the Reds beat him around pretty good the last time they faced him. If Cueto can pitch like he did Friday night, and pretty much like he has all year, then I really like the Reds chances on Wednesday. The Brewers have some big sticks, and that's always a big concern, and you just know that Dickerson will come back to haunt is old team somtime during the series. August 30, 201016 yr In '09, Cardinals won the division by 7.5 with 91 wins (Cubs were 2nd). In '08, Chicago won the division by 7.5 games with 97 wins. Milwaukee won the Wild Card with 90 wins (7.5 back from Chicago). In '07, Chicago won the division with 85 wins. Milwaukee finished 2 games behind and 6.5 games out of the wildcard. In '06, St. Louis won the division with 83 wins (1.5 games ahead of Houston & 3.5 ahead of Cincinnati).

August 30, 201016 yr I hate to say it but why are the reds pitching Harang tues. night? He has been lit up like a Christmas tree in triple A to the tune of a 9.00 ERA. They are in a pennant race here. Surely they could come up with something better. I'd feel more comfy with my man, Steady Sam Lecure.

August 30, 201016 yr The Reds have proven now for 5 months that they aren't a fluke and this truly could be the beginning of a changing of the guard in the Central. With that said, I still can't believe that here soon we will be talking about the Reds "magic number" to clinch the division. A 3-3 weeks sounds right, but it would be nice to see the Reds get off the mat and finish the Cards in their own backyard.
