August 6, 201016 yr Attention First Watch patrons. Although goetta is not listed on the menu (which is prepared for the chain out of this region), goetta is available at local First Watch restaurants. I regularly order it at the RiverCenter location. Colonial Cottage is my 2nd choice as a goetta venue.
August 6, 201016 yr Being a transplant from Maryland, The locals love goetta, Bur scrapple is bettah. Seriously, sounds like a great event. I remember going to the sauerkraut festival in Waynesville several years ago and there was a cast of thousands there (although I don't recall adult beverages being a big part of the festivities). And we're now "regulars" at the Panegyri Greek Festival.

August 6, 201016 yr So goetta is basically pork sausage with oats? Kinda: 2 lbs. Pork Shoulder with Bone 8 Cups Water 4 Bay Leaves 1 Tsp. Sage ½ Tsp. Pepper 1 Large Onion 3 Cloves Garlic (chopped) 2 ½ Cups Pinhead Oats Combine pork shoulder and water in large stock pot, bring to boil over medium heat, cover for one hour. Skim if necessary. Save broth but de-bone meat and grind with onion. Place back in broth and add oats. Stir and then bake in 350 oven using a sprayed covered roaster. Stir occasionally. Bake 1 ½ hours or until thick. Cool and refrigerate or freeze. Fry in sprayed skillet, adding salt as desired.
August 6, 201016 yr At St. Nicholas in Cincinnati? That's the one. We took the little church tour this year. Very interesting how the interior is laid out.
August 6, 201016 yr That's the one. We took the little church tour this year. Very interesting how the interior is laid out. I don't know why this just occurred to me. Having some background in statistics, I'll probably always remember this quote: "If all the people who fell asleep in church on Sunday morning were laid end to end... ...they'd be a lot more comfortable."
