August 5, 201016 yr This weekend in Newport. One of my favorite events of the year. Goetta in all forms. http://www.goettafest.com/ http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20100804/NEWS0103/8050354/ Edited August 5, 201016 yr by afi100guy
August 5, 201016 yr I will more than likely be down there tomorrow evening in an attempt to take part in the goetta coney eating sprint...lol. Its only open to the first ten that register and happens each night of the festival so there will be three separate sprints...the first to eat 10 wins and take the $100 prize, which comes from the $10 entry fee for each participant. I wouldn't advice anyone to take part in the contest tomorrow cause I think Jammin' Joe LaRue is gonna win in less than 2 minutes...lol. I only wanna take part in it to see how good/bad I am as a competitive eater when I'm in a race against a professional eater.

Man, if I wasn't be dragged to the concert by my girlfriend I'd think about showing up just to watch you lol.
August 5, 201016 yr Thanks for teasing me, guys. I sure am jonesing for a goetta dog, or even better, a goetta omelette.
August 5, 201016 yr If I get registered, I will see if I can get someone to film it on my phone....lol. MJ, one of our mutual friends Bobby G. will probably be there so I know he'll definitely record it...i'll also have to get him to slap me a couple times to get me pumped up for the contest...lol.
August 5, 201016 yr My local butcher shop just started carrying goetta, and boy was I surprised! I picked up a pound and will be whipping up a goetta omelette for breakfast tomorrow morning!

I will gladly try your recipe if you post it...I might get a roll of it tomorrow before heading back to campus. I love experimenting with new recipes.

I love experimenting with new recipes. I might occasionally add peppers or onions, but the basic eggs, cheese and goetta omelette pretty much stands on its own. If you get a chance to stop by the Pepper Pod in Newport, try one there. I've been eating goetta since I was a little kid, but it never occurred to me to try a goetta omelette until a couple years ago when gametime and I went there for a late-night breakfast.
August 6, 201016 yr I wish I could be there. A good friend of mine used to work at Goettafest every year. In fact, just last weekend I had an amazing Goetta omelet at the Ft. Wright Family Resaurant. Delicious.
