The KHSAA has ruled that Taulbee is eligible this season.
Color me surprised. Good for her and W-V. If you can't beat em, join em.

I think what makes it so hard to evaluate Walton and why you see such wide range of opinions is because of who they play. Walton needs to play the TOP teams in northern kentucky...Boone, Ryle etc and then play the TOP teams from their region (South Oldham, Anderson, Simon Kenton, ML Collins etc).

I think Walton is a good team, and certainly a legit threat to win the 8th this year...but I can see why some would question them.

I agree with you.

Taulbee and Slavey on each side will make WV very hard to guard because these two are very good shooters.

Taulbee is a good shooter and will help this team, but Slavey is streaky AT BEST and an absolute liability on defense. I'd say the addition of Taulbee gives more pine -time for Slavey. Same kool-aid different year.

Taulbee and Slavey are both lights out shooters. I would not be surprised to see them both on the wings at the same time. They have both improved their ball handling also. Slavey may not be their best defender, but lets face it most teams don't have five players on the floor that are capable of scoring. If you put up 55 or 60 points a game you will not lose many games.

This should make for good competition during practice, and if defense is something Slavey needs to work on maybe this will motivate her to do so. IMO all of Walton's starters from last year will lose minutes this year it will be hard to keep Taulbee and Judy off the floor.

Can you clarify the kool-aid remark?

Did you even watch any of Walton's games last year? Because if you did then I questioned your basketball IQ. Slavey can flat out shoot a basketball and played defense last year. She has really worked hard on her shooting, ball handling, and most importantly her defense during the summer and fall and has even had personal training sessions to build her speed and agility. Taulbee and Slavey should both start IMO, but Taulbee only helps this team and will NOT add pine time to Slavey. Wait and see!!

When Slavey is on, she is on. She can go 5 for 8 from 3 point land or 1 for 10. She is streaky but always a threat.

Judging from the numerous W-V responses, far more than any other team, W-V must be the real deal. But if not, there might be some very unhappy campers near the I-71 and I-75 interchange. Personally, I believe they are a pretty solid bunch, but it's going to take more than simply being solid to get out and head down to Diddle -- and there are several region teams that fall into the category of pretty solid this season. Do the W-V followers just have more passion for their team than most 8th region schools, or what? No doubt, they sure are active on the BGP.

Walton has some very good reasons to be optimistic this year. They return everyone from last year's team that won their district, won the All A 8th region crown, was beating the eventual regional champ with 3 minutes to go in the regional semi-finals, plus they added an outstanding transfer in Taulbee. I think that warrants some optimism don't you think?

Reasons for W-V optimism? Certainly. It's too bad that the other teams with reasons for optimism don't get as much attention from their own fans, though.

My response is maybe the fans of those other teams are not as optimistic that their team will be as good as some people think they will be. Who knows?

fan support doesn't equate to amount of posts on bluegrass preps. Just saying.

I agree! Very excited about the Lady Panthers and I really like watching my little "home grown" team improve and play well. If I judge from the summer play this is going to be a good year for the Lady Panthers.

I think there are several other teams that many are overlooking also..but give WV their due I am sure they will be great.

Are you serious? I think W-V fans are a little too optimistic. I am a firm believer that actions speak louder than words. After W-V has some quality wins in the 8th you can boast. Taulbee, Sandlin, and Slavey were on the same AAU team this summer. Yes, they can shoot, but they won one game at state AAU. A team must play defense to win. The

8th has several good, athletic teams. It will take offense, defense, and a little luck to win the region this year. I am very optimistic about South. We had a great summer.
